At around 5am on August 4, Minh Hop (27 years old) woke up early to catch the sunrise and accidentally captured an image of a red carp-shaped cloud in the sky in Dong My commune (Thai Binh city).
This is not the first time Hop has seen clouds with strange shapes. Previously, Vietnam has recorded colorful clouds, tsunami-shaped clouds...
"I mainly enjoyed the early morning atmosphere at home, but I accidentally filmed the moment of the red carp, so I shared it on social media," he said.
On his way to work in Thuy An commune (Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province), Nguyen Nam (26 years old) also accidentally took a photo of a "carp turning into a dragon" cloud.
"It's really a beautiful scene," Nam said.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Hong Son (27 years old) said he "hunted" a carp-shaped cloud at the infinite sea in Thuy Hai commune (Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province).
Son's group set off at 3am and arrived an hour later. The group used flashlights to walk another 3-4km to reach the infinity sea. At this time, it was still dark, with a few female farmers catching cockles.
As the sun rose, Mr. Son took some souvenir photos of the infinite sea and farmers. At 5:20, the sun's rays began to shine, shining on the clouds, creating the shape of a "red carp flying out", attracting Mr. Son's attention.
"We were extremely surprised by the natural scene that looked like a carp jumping over the dragon gate," he said.
After about a minute, the cloud cleared and the carp disappeared. This was the first time Mr. Son had seen such a beautiful scene, which left him momentarily stunned.

Not only Minh Hop, Nguyen Nam or Hong Son, social media users simultaneously shared photos of red carp clouds in Thai Binh and some other northern provinces such as Ninh Binh and Hung Yen.
Each post attracted thousands of likes and comments. Many people called this moment "carp jumping over the dragon gate" or "carp transforming into dragon".
Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Vu The Hoang, Chairman of Hanoi Astronomy Club (HAS), said that the carp-shaped cloud is normal, "no problem".
According to Mr. Hoang, this is actually a phenomenon of light refraction. When sunlight passes through the layers of clouds, it creates some colors, in this case red, and randomly forms a shape that looks like a fish.

Experts say that light refraction occurs at special times and weather conditions. Every time the sun rises or sets, the phenomenon of sunset can easily occur, which can be red or orange, because in the atmosphere there are many thin layers of crystals or dust and water vapor that will reflect or scatter light.
"Therefore, light with short wavelengths such as purple or blue will be scattered completely, leaving only orange-red (long wavelengths) less scattered and transmitted to the human eye," said Mr. Hoang.
At this time the clouds and the whole sky are red, even more special because at this moment a fish-shaped cloud appears.
"This refraction phenomenon is different from iridescent clouds - which is the phenomenon of light scattering through high clouds to create rainbow-colored clouds," the expert said.
