Promoting the people's internal strength

Ms. Vang Thi Sa, Mong ethnic group, village 1, Dak Som commune, due to poor health, her farm is dozens of kilometers away, inconvenient to travel, so she is always among the poor households in the locality. To improve her life and have a livelihood, Ms. Sa opened a small shop, mainly selling brocade, clothes, costumes, and items of the Mong people. The income from the shop has helped Ms. Sa's family escape poverty.

Ms. Sa said: “From this small business, every day, I also earn a little extra money to cover living expenses and fertilizer for the plants. Because I am weak, I have to find another suitable job to increase my income, I cannot just sit around and wait for support from the government.”

Mr. Thao Seo Chu, Secretary of Party Cell 1, regularly visits and grasps the trading situation of the people.

Not only in Mrs. Sa's case, according to comrade Thao Seo Chu, Secretary of the Party Cell of Village 1, Dak Som Commune, every month, in regular meetings, the Party Cell directs the village self-management board and branches and organizations to focus on propaganda and raising awareness for people about the spirit of self-improvement, not relying on the government.

At the same time, households with similar interests in raising livestock and growing crops establish cooperatives and interest groups to share business experiences and help each other develop. In addition, the Party Cell regularly coordinates to propagate and mobilize people to change the structure of crops and livestock or develop service industries and small businesses to increase income.

Fortunately, currently, when agricultural production is unstable, some villagers have developed small businesses, repairing, weaving, and brocade products of the Mong ethnic group, so their lives are more stable. Currently, there are only 50 poor households left in village 1."

To carry out sustainable poverty reduction, the Party Executive Committee of Dak Som commune has issued a separate resolution for the entire term 2020 - 2025 and a specific annual plan.

Comrade Hoang Duc Tam, Deputy Secretary of the Dak Som Commune Party Committee, said: “The locality identifies that sustainable poverty reduction is the responsibility of the entire political system and the poor households and the poor themselves. In particular, the commune focuses on propaganda and changing people's awareness according to the motto "people rise up to escape poverty, with support from the State and help from the community. With this approach, in 2022, the commune's poverty rate will decrease to 37.52% (down 17.73% compared to 2021)".

Similarly, promoting the leadership and direction role of Party committees in sustainable poverty reduction; in which, focusing on propaganda and raising people's awareness of self-reliance is also the way of the Party Committee of Quang Khe commune.

Comrade Ly Van Hoe, Deputy Secretary of the Quang Khe Commune Party Committee, informed that in implementing the sustainable poverty reduction program, especially for ethnic minorities, the commune focuses on leadership and direction in conjunction with the implementation of 3 national target programs. The locality also determined that the most fundamental solution is to promote the combined strength of the political system, especially the clans and villagers.

Efforts to escape poverty

To make sustainable poverty reduction effective, Dak Glong district has proposed appropriate solutions based on the actual conditions of each locality.

Many Mong people have sewn their own traditional costumes to sell to customers.

With the motto of supporting the poor in the short term, then creating long-term livelihoods, localities in the district focus on implementing the component of supporting production, creating jobs to increase income; gradually changing the awareness of the poor. During the implementation process, local Party committees and authorities have promoted the role and responsibility of cadres and party members to join hands in poverty reduction.

Escaping the poverty line is one of the goals set by the Dak Glong District Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term. Therefore, immediately after the congress, the District Party Committee developed Resolution No. 04-NQ/HU, dated November 11, 2020, on strengthening sustainable poverty reduction in the 2020-2025 period, striving to bring Dak Glong District out of poverty by 2025.

The Standing Committee of the District Party Committee has focused on leading and directing the integration of programs and projects being implemented in the district on poverty reduction in the locality. With the participation of the Party Committee, the government and the efforts of the people, in 2022, the poverty rate in the district decreased by 13.5%.

According to comrade Vu Tien Lu, in the coming time, Dak Glong will continue to integrate programs and projects with the implementation of sustainable poverty reduction in the locality. Hunger eradication and poverty reduction must be considered a top priority task, a long-term strategic task in the process of building and developing the local socio-economy. In particular, the district will strengthen the leadership of Party committees at all levels, the management and operation of the government, and promote the core role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations in poverty reduction.

Along with that, promoting the pioneering and exemplary role of cadres and party members in economic development such as restructuring crops and livestock, applying advanced science and technology to production, and increasing income for people to follow is also enhanced.

Party committees at all levels continue to closely follow the actual situation at the grassroots level, assigning party organizations and party members to mobilize, support and help poor households to escape poverty sustainably; taking the results of poverty reduction as an important criterion to evaluate the quality of grassroots party organizations every year. Each cadre and party member must be a shining example in production, an enthusiastic propagandist in the poverty reduction communication campaign in the locality.
