Following Russia's attack with the new Oreshnik hypersonic missile on November 21, Ukraine's Ambassador to the UK, former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) Valeriy Zaluzhny declared World War III.

Politico quoted Mr. Zaluzhny as saying that World War III, “which has been predicted for a long time,” has begun in 2024.
Assuming that it is possible to prevent this from happening on Ukrainian territory, the former commander of the Eastern European country's army raised the question: "For some reason, our partners do not want to understand this."
Ambassador Zaluzhny called on the international community to draw the right conclusions and end the conflict in Ukraine, stressing that world leaders have yet to realize the importance of this issue.
On the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on world leaders to react firmly to Russia's use of a new generation hypersonic missile called Oreshnik to attack the Yuzhmash plant in Dnipro.
“The world must react,” Zelensky wrote on social media, describing the incident as a major escalation of the conflict. “There is no decisive reaction from the world yet.”
Earlier the same day, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry also urged the international community to react quickly to Russia's use of "new weapons".
On the US side, Deputy Press Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Sabrina Singh stated that the country does not want to confront Russia, but will continue to provide military support to Ukraine.
Besides, according to her, while helping Ukraine, the US is not trying to turn this conflict into a large-scale regional confrontation beyond the country's borders.
According to TASS news agency, commenting on Russia's nuclear posture after the attack with the new medium-range hypersonic weapon, the Pentagon official made it clear: "We have not seen any adjustments by Moscow and we have not adjusted our nuclear posture in return."
Russian President Vladimir Putin made a televised address to the nation on the evening of November 21, announcing that, in response to the West's decision to allow Ukraine to launch a long-range attack on Russia, Moscow had used its new Oreshnik medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile for the first time.
The missile is equipped with a conventional warhead, but is also designed to carry a nuclear warhead.
According to Mr. Putin, Russia reserves the right to use its weapons against military facilities of countries that allow their weapons to be used against targets in Russia. When using Oreshnik in the future, Russia will give advance warning, allowing civilians to leave areas designated as dangerous.
