In more than a decade, bilateral trade between the US and Vietnam has quadrupled, from 30 billion USD to more than 120 billion USD. The Ambassador also cited the US Agriculture delegation in September, which had its largest visit to Vietnam. This was followed by the US transferring five T-6C training aircraft to Vietnam, and the US announcing $12.5 million to enhance maritime safety for Vietnam. The Ambassador said, "Opportunities for cooperation are opening up on both sides of the Pacific." Ambassador Marc Knapper said that the US is proud to support Vietnam in its green transition, as well as the Mekong Delta habitat conservation project, and cooperation on environmentally friendly agriculture. The US continues to support environmental sustainability and climate resilience in Vietnam. In 2024, the US expanded its English language training program, focusing on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics); strengthened higher education cooperation; and launched the Semiconductor Industry Workforce Acceleration Program (ITSI-CHIPS), helping Vietnam build a world-class and globally competitive workforce. Ambassador Marc Knapper recalled his visit to Da Nang to talk about the two sides' active cooperation in efforts to close the past and heal the wounds of war. The US announced an additional $65 million in assistance to help clean up dioxin at Bien Hoa airport. The US also pledged $26 million in funding to clean up areas affected by wartime bombs and mines.
