Ho Chi Minh City National University starts construction of 700 billion Innovation Center

The Center for Advanced Research and Innovation, which has just started construction, will be a new highlight of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area.

This is the first project to be built in the Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area after many years without any new construction due to legal procedures.

The center will house advanced laboratories worth thousands of billions of dong.

On the afternoon of December 9, Ho Chi Minh City National University held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Center for Advanced Research and Innovation at NC2.2 land, Research Institute Area 2, Dong Hoa Ward, Di An City, Binh Duong Province.

This project is built on a 4.65 hectare land area, with a prime location with two sides overlooking the lake. The project consists of 6 floors above ground and 1 basement, with a total floor area of ​​up to 42,000 m².

The total construction cost of the project is 700 billion VND from a loan from the World Bank.

The center will house advanced laboratories such as: National shared semiconductor laboratory, with an investment scale of about 2,000 billion VND;

Laboratory system applying biotechnology to production and life, investment scale of about 320 billion VND; Ho Chi Minh City National University Data Center, investment scale of about 100 billion VND.

In addition, the system of experimental production workshops and R&D centers in cooperation with enterprises of Ho Chi Minh City National University are also located at the Center for Advanced Research and Innovation.

This center also has shared support service areas such as: halls, offices, meeting rooms and other facilities, meeting the living and working needs of scientists.

Perspective of the Center for Advanced Research and Innovation

Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan - Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University - said: "The Center for Advanced Research and Innovation is not only a simple scientific project but also a place connecting research, businesses and the community, promoting the application of science and technology to socio-economic development.

Ho Chi Minh City National University hopes to develop the National Innovation Center at Ho Chi Minh City National University as a facility of the National Innovation Center in the Southeast region".

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Minh Tam - Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City National University - this is an important project, marking the start of the construction of the next projects in the Ho Chi Minh City National University Urban Area.

It is expected that Ho Chi Minh City National University will start construction of YB1, YB2, YB3 buildings of the University of Health Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) in early 2025 with a total investment of about 500 billion VND.
