Ho Chi Minh City National University extends review due to error in announcing capacity assessment test scores

On the morning of June 14, the Council of the second round of the Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam announced the results of the exam marking review after many candidates complained about unusual exam scores and suspected incorrect marking.

"Does not affect the candidate's ability assessment test results"

On the afternoon of June 13, based on information reflecting the abnormality of the results of the second round of the 2024 capacity assessment exam, the standing board of the examination council conducted a comprehensive review of the processes from marking the exam to announcing the results to candidates.

The review results show that the exam marking process was carried out in accordance with regulations, ensuring accuracy and security at each stage, from scanning exam photos, processing exam photos to determine raw scores, converting scores using specialized software, reviewing, and reporting to the council before announcement.

The work of storing test image data, raw scores, and test results is strictly implemented, ready for review and inspection.

According to the exam council representative, a technical error occurred during the process of uploading exam results to the system for announcement to candidates.

Due to the lack of time synchronization between the two times the exam results were uploaded to the system (the first time the results of all exams were uploaded without updating any unusual cases, the second time the results of exams that were processed unusually were uploaded), from the afternoon of June 10 to the afternoon of June 12, some candidates received incomplete exam results.

"Currently, the results on the system are accurate and complete for all exams.

This unfortunate technical incident, although it did not affect the candidates' exam results, had a negative impact on their psychology, as well as made it difficult for candidates to use their competency assessment test results to register for admission," the representative of the examination council affirmed.

Extending the time for registration for review and registration for capacity assessment

To facilitate candidates, Ho Chi Minh City National University will extend the registration period for re-examination until the end of Monday, June 17. Re-examination scores will be announced before June 20.

The registration period for admission based on the results of the capacity assessment is also extended from June 15 to June 21.

Previously, two days after Ho Chi Minh City National University announced the results of the second round of the competency assessment exam, many candidates who took the exam reported that they only got 16/300 points in the natural sciences section. However, later, candidates discovered a surprising change in the exam results.

Some candidates increased their score from 16 to 200 points (out of a maximum total score of 300). Notably, some of these candidates have not yet submitted their appeal.

Soon after, a teacher who trained for the competency assessment test created a group on Zalo called "Review of the HCM National University Competency Assessment Test" for candidates to report information about their exam results. To date, this group has 965 members.
