The above sharing was stated at the ceremony to present the Prime Minister's decision on converting the National Economics University into the National Economics University and to present the decision of the Ministry of Education and Training recognizing the University Council, Chairman of the Council, and Director of the National Economics University, which took place this morning (January 12).
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that from now on, the name National Economics University will replace National Economics University. The difference is not only in removing the first word in the school name but also paving the way for the word "dai" to come first and help the school move towards greatness in all aspects.
According to the head of the education sector, the difference between universities and colleges is not in terms of size. Universities can also grow to a very large scale and can also have high-quality, world-class research and training results. Universities are important in that they are large entities with internal structures that require high university management capabilities and levels, aiming for development and growth.

The university model allows for autonomy and dynamism. Autonomy can be exercised down to the lowest level and to groups of specialists and scientists. If the organizational design does not aim to unleash the creative capacity from within the educational institution, the model transformation will not bring much value.
The university is an internal management model that aims at multidisciplinary development, so in the coming time, the National Economics University needs to aim at multidisciplinary and multi-field training while still promoting its advantages, strengths and traditional strengths.
The Minister also emphasized that multidisciplinary does not mean training everything according to what others do. We should not deviate from our main goals and missions. The identity and brand of the National Economics University need to continue and promote in the new organizational model.
In addition, for teachers in the leadership team, the change of name from principal to director is not just a change in name but requires a new vision and new management thinking to suit the management object which is different from before in terms of scale and nature.
"The National Economics University has chosen to transform into a new development model - the university model - to carry out a transformation, change in internal quality and external appearance, determined to innovate and develop, that is the new aspiration and new vision", the Minister said and believed in this new direction.
To achieve that goal, Minister Son requested the National Economics University to review and perfect its development strategy; promote and maintain its traditional strengths in training in economics, management and business administration, and at the same time make changes to suit the current training and research trends in the country.
National Economics University needs to create internal mechanisms and regulations to better promote autonomy in the spirit of the Law on Higher Education, promoting the dynamism and creativity of affiliated schools, units and departments in the entire system.
The school needs to build a smart, modern university governance system, combined with university autonomy, decentralization, delegation of authority, proactive in-depth investment and maximum utilization of technology platforms and artificial intelligence.
Regarding organizational work, each school, unit, and organization within the National Economics University needs to have a suitable autonomous mechanism, with its own functions and tasks, without duplication, and must be an indispensable organic part, creating the whole of a complete and strong university, Minister Nguyen Kim Son assigned the task to the school.
On November 15, 2024, the Prime Minister signed a decision to convert the National Economics University into the National Economics University - a public service unit under the Ministry of Education and Training, with legal status, its own seal and account.
National Economics University becomes the 9th university in Vietnam, along with Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Thai Nguyen University, Hue University, Da Nang University, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, Duy Tan University. Of which, Duy Tan University is the first private university in our country.
