Da Nang identifies 3 breakthroughs to promote tourism development in 2025

(To Quoc) - In 2025, Da Nang identified 3 breakthroughs to promote the city's tourism development: Breakthrough in investment and tourism product development; breakthrough in promoting the expansion of potential markets; breakthrough in improving service quality and developing tourism human resources.

That was the information given at the Conference on implementing the tourism development plan of Da Nang City in 2025 held on the morning of December 27.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Tran Chi Cuong said that 2024 will face many difficulties and challenges, but with the attention of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the drastic direction of the City Party Committee, the City People's Council and the high determination of the Department of Tourism, departments, branches, districts, the companionship of the tourism business community and people... Da Nang tourism continues to develop strongly, is a bright spot, contributing positively to the city's socio-economic growth.

Tourism promotion, advertising and development linkage activities have been stepped up, international flights to Da Nang have been restored and newly developed; many events and festivals have been successfully organized, demonstrating the determination to promote the development of key economic sectors, bringing many tourism products and services into operation, creating a vibrant and fresh atmosphere to serve the people and tourists.

"Da Nang's tourism brand continues to be affirmed on the regional and international tourism map, as recently Time Out Magazine (UK) ranked Da Nang as one of the 8 most worth-visiting destinations in Asia in 2025," said Mr. Tran Chi Cuong.

The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee shared that in 2025, the city's tourism activities will still face difficulties and challenges, such as: global economic recession, strong competition for domestic and international destinations, the trend of tourists shifting destinations, and promoting the opening of flight routes.

At the same time, Da Nang also faces opportunities thanks to the attention and support from the Central Government such as Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 on the organization of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang City; the establishment of a regional financial center, a free trade zone; the Central Government's support to remove difficulties and projects for Da Nang; Planning of Vietnam's tourism system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045; the city's theme for 2025 is "The year of focusing on streamlining the apparatus associated with cutting administrative procedures, effectively implementing the organization of urban government and specific mechanisms and policies to strongly promote economic growth".

"Based on the guidelines, policies and themes of 2025, the Department of Tourism needs to proactively develop a specific implementation plan to continue to strongly develop tourism in 2025. The city has identified three important breakthroughs that need to be implemented: Breakthrough in investment and development of tourism products; Breakthrough in promoting the expansion of potential markets; Breakthrough in improving service quality and developing tourism human resources... and set a target of welcoming more than 11.9 million arrivals, an increase of 10% compared to 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 4.8 million, an increase of more than 17.4% compared to 2024, domestic visitors are estimated at more than 7.1 million, an increase of more than 5.4% compared to 2024", Mr. Tran Chi Cuong emphasized.

The Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee also requested that the Heads of departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts and businesses need to join hands to act with the highest responsibility and political determination, and make the greatest efforts to continue developing sustainable tourism and effectively exploiting the potential advantages of the destination.

According to Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism Truong Thi Hong Hanh, in 2024, Da Nang tourism continued to be a bright spot in the city's economic development through the actual growth figures of the whole city and the business results of each enterprise. This is a great effort of the entire political system and the whole city working together to develop tourism, creating a vibrant atmosphere for domestic and foreign tourists to the city, making an important contribution to spreading the development of other industries and contributing to solving employment and social security.

"We sincerely thank the attention and close direction of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, the People's Council and the leaders of the City People's Committee, along with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Tourism Administration. The Director of the Department of Tourism of Da Nang City said that in order to achieve the growth targets and implement the three breakthroughs mentioned above in the context of tourism activities facing many difficulties and challenges, the city's tourism industry, especially businesses, needs to continue to have adaptive solutions, new and creative ways of doing things, and be determined to make the highest efforts to achieve the set goals. Along with that, develop business activities and actively participate with the city in organizing festival events to attract visitors, promote market expansion and direct international flights.

Reporting at the conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, said that in 2024, the number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated to reach nearly 10.9 million, an increase of 32.8% compared to 2023, equal to 135% compared to 2019, exceeding 29.3% compared to the 2024 plan. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach more than 4.1 million, an increase of 36.3% over the same period in 2023, equal to 128% compared to 2019, exceeding 65.8% compared to the 2024 plan; domestic visitors are estimated to reach more than 6.7 million, an increase of 30.8% over the same period in 2023, equal to 141% compared to 2019, exceeding 13.9% compared to the 2024 plan.

Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in 2024 is estimated to reach more than 31 trillion VND, up 22.1% compared to 2023, equal to 146% compared to 2019, exceeding 10.8% compared to the 2024 plan.

In 2025, the number of guests served by accommodation establishments is expected to reach more than 11.9 million, an increase of 10% compared to 2024, equal to 149% compared to 2019. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 4.8 million, an increase of more than 17% compared to 2024, equal to 150% compared to 2019; domestic visitors are estimated to reach more than 7.1 million, an increase of more than 5% compared to 2024, equal to 148% compared to 2019. Revenue from accommodation, food and beverage, and travel in 2025 is expected to reach more than 36 trillion VND, an increase of more than 15% compared to 2024, equal to 169% compared to 2019.
