Da Nang continues to invest in the Western Ring Road 2 Project after a temporary suspension.
Da Nang City restarted investment to complete the Western Ring Road 2 Project, after a temporary suspension due to high compensation and site clearance costs.
Da Nang City has just announced the conclusion of the Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh on the plan to adjust the route planning of the Western Ring Road 2 project (section from Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street); assigning the localities of Lien Chieu, Cam Le and Hoa Vang district to coordinate with relevant units to estimate the cost of site clearance, construction investment costs, etc.
The Western Ring Road 2 project was previously approved for investment with a length of 14.3km, with a total investment capital of VND1,427 billion.
However, when actually implemented, the project's compensation and clearance costs increased so much that it was impossible to continue implementing the entire route.
Therefore, Da Nang city focused on investing in completing the final 4.6km section of the route (from the Hai Van tunnel South bypass to Road No. 8 of Hoa Khanh Industrial Park). Currently, the final 4.6km section of the route has been put into operation.

Up to now, the Western Belt Road 2 project, the section from Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu District to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Hoa Vang District, will continue to be invested by Da Nang. Currently, Da Nang City has arranged capital to prepare for investment in the section from Road No. 8, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Hoang Van Thai Street.
The Da Nang Priority Infrastructure Project Management Board has coordinated with the Consulting Unit to complete the route plan. After the District Land Clearance Boards provide the estimated land clearance cost data, they will complete the dossier for approval of the investment policy.
The Western Ring Road 2 has its end point connecting the Hai Van Tunnel South Bypass (now the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan Expressway under construction) through Hoa Khanh Industrial Park (Lien Chieu District), Hoa Tho Tay (Cam Le District) connecting to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street (Hoa Vang District). This is the North-South axis traffic route of Da Nang City, playing an important role when closing the Hai Van Tunnel South Bypass to operate the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan Expressway.
With the adjustment of route from Road No. 8, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, the Western Ring Road 2 project has officially restarted.
It is expected that by 2027, the section from Road No. 8, Hoa Khanh Industrial Park to Hoang Van Thai Street will be fully invested and put into operation. The section from Hoang Van Thai to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia will be completed and put into operation in 2030.
