Da Nang wants to make golf tourism one of its key products.

On the afternoon of August 28, the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and related units held a technical press conference before the opening of the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024.

According to the Organizing Committee, the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 will officially take place from August 29 to August 31 at Legend Danang Golf Resort, gathering nearly 144 domestic and international golfers to compete with a total prize fund of up to 100,000 USD.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang, said that after the success of 2022 and 2023, this is the third consecutive year that the tournament has been hosted by Da Nang City with the desire to make golf tourism products one of the key products, leading and meeting the needs of golf tourism combined with relaxation, affirming the position of a leading attractive golf tourism destination in Asia.

"Consecutive hosting of the Asian Golf Development Tournament - BRG Open Golf Championship Danang for 3 consecutive years, contributes to affirming Da Nang's position as "Asia's Leading Event - Festival Destination". At the same time, it is an important milestone in developing the city's golf tourism potential to become one of the leading golf tourism destinations in Asia and the world , contributing to promoting the development of high-quality tourism, in line with the city's tourism development orientation", Mr. Thao shared.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang Nguyen Trong Thao shared some information about the tournament at the press conference on the afternoon of August 28.

The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 is part of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) system of the Asian Tour, organized in the Stroke Play format over 3 rounds of 18 holes (total 54 holes) at Nicklaus Course in the Legend Danang Golf Resort system. After 36 holes, there will be a cut and only the top 50 players and ties will be allowed to continue. The winner is the player with the lowest gross score at the end of the Tournament.

Among the nearly 144 athletes participating in this year's tournament, Vietnam has 20 representatives, including 8 professional golfers and 12 amateur golfers with impressive achievements.

This year's tournament also brings together outstanding international golfers who have achieved great success in major professional golf tournaments in the regional and world arenas such as: Rahil Gangjee (India), Khalin Joshi (India), Ahmad Baig (Pakistan), Natipong Srithong (Thailand), Kosuke Hamamoto (Thailand), Runchanapong Youprayong (Thailand).

Mr. Ken Kudo, General Director of Asian Golf Development Tournament, shared that at the end of season 1 and season 2 of BRG Open Golf Championship Danang, the two champions, Chen Guxin and Aaron Wilkin, reached the top 10 of the ADT OOM rankings, which helped them advance to the next season of the prestigious Asian Tour, proving the importance of the tournament to the careers of promising professional golfers.

The BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 will officially take place from August 29-31, bringing together nearly 144 domestic and international golfers to compete.

The tournament organizers also informed that, in addition to the official tournament BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024 taking place from August 29 to August 31, the event will bring many other attractive activities such as: Golfer Welcome Party, Professional - Amateur Golf Exchange Tournament (Pro - Ams) and Danang Tourism Experience Program.

With the advantage of owning many high-class golf courses in the region along with the strong development of golf tourism in key international markets, Da Nang determines the important position of golf tourism in the strategy of specialized market segmentation.

In the first 7 months of 2024, the total number of golf rounds of 3 golf courses in Da Nang reached 98,703 rounds, an increase of more than 4,700 rounds compared to the same period in 2023, Legend Danang Golf Resort course dominated with more than 66,320 rounds.
