Da Nang: Businesses temporarily suspend operations twice as many as newly registered

DNVN - According to the Da Nang Statistics Office, in the first 5 months of 2024, more than 3,000 businesses in the area registered to temporarily suspend operations, an increase of 15.4% over the same period. Meanwhile, the number of newly registered businesses was only 1,582.

According to the report of the Da Nang Statistics Office, in May 2024 (from April 16 to May 15), the city newly issued registration certificates to 341 enterprises, branches and representative offices (DN) with a total registered charter capital of nearly 1,130 billion VND, a decrease of 12.5% ​​in the number of enterprises and a decrease of 27.2% in capital compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first 5 months of 2024 (as of May 15), the city has newly granted registration certificates to 1,582 enterprises with a total registered charter capital of VND 5,166 billion; a decrease of 3% in the number of enterprises and a decrease of 23.2% in capital compared to the same period in 2023.

The Da Nang Statistical Office recorded that the number of enterprises returning to operation in the past 5 months increased by 12.2% compared to the same period in 2023 (equivalent to 1,020 enterprises). However, the number of enterprises registering to temporarily suspend operations in the same period still increased by 15.4% compared to the same period (equivalent to 3,072 enterprises).

Thus, in the past 5 months, in Da Nang, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending operations is nearly double the number of enterprises newly granted registration certificates. At the same time, since the beginning of the year, 278 enterprises have completed dissolution procedures and withdrawn from the market, an increase of 4.9% over the same period in 2023. Da Nang City has revoked the registration certificates of 6 enterprises with a capital reduction of more than 530 billion VND.

Regarding attracting domestic investment capital, from April 15 to May 15, the city did not have any newly registered investment projects. Accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to May 15, the city has granted investment certificates to 5 domestic projects with a total newly registered capital of VND 8,415 billion, a decrease of 1 project but the newly registered capital is 4.1 times higher than the same period in 2023.

Regarding foreign direct investment (FDI), from April 15 to May 15, the city attracted 354 thousand USD of newly registered and increased capital (the same period in 2023 reached nearly 2.8 million USD). Of which, there were 8 newly licensed projects with a total registered capital of 461 thousand USD (in the same period in 2023, 10 projects were created with a total registered investment capital of 870 thousand USD).

Accumulated from the beginning of 2024 to May 15, Da Nang City attracted nearly 22 million USD of FDI capital (the same period in 2023 reached 19.549 million USD), including 27 newly licensed projects with registered capital of nearly 23 million USD (the same period in 2023 reached 47 newly licensed projects with newly registered capital of more than 6 million USD).

Newly registered FDI projects in the first 5 months of 2024 mainly focused on the accommodation and catering services industry (8/27 projects, accounting for 29.6% of the total number of projects); the information and communication industry (7/27 projects, accounting for 25.9%); the wholesale and retail, auto, motorcycle and motorbike repair industry (5/27 projects, accounting for 18.4%).
