"Correa and Glas abused their positions as former President and former Vice President of Ecuador, respectively, by accepting bribes...", the US State Department said in a statement that also banned the wives and children of the former Ecuadorian officials from entering the US.
Former President Correa responded in a post on X, claiming that the domestic verdict on his charges was unfounded and that the US ban on his entry was unfair.
Mr Correa, who lives in exile in Belgium, has been convicted of corruption and sentenced to prison in his home country. He denies the charges, describing the case against him as a political persecution led by his opponents.
Glas' lawyer, Sonia Gabriela Vera, told X that the ban on the former vice president's entry was aimed at interfering in Ecuador's elections, calling it "a political move to favor specific interests" without evidence.
Glas, who was also convicted of corruption, has been imprisoned in Ecuador. He attempted suicide earlier this year and has been on a hunger strike in prison to protest his arrest, according to his lawyer.
Mexico and Ecuador have filed lawsuits against each other at the World Court following the arrest of Glas, who was taking refuge in the Mexican Embassy in the capital Quito when the arrest occurred in April.
Mexico accused Ecuador of violating international law by breaking into the Mexican Embassy in Quito to arrest Glas, while Ecuador accused Mexico of illegally granting asylum to Glas.
