Strengthening and developing the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Azerbaijan

On the afternoon of November 20, at the headquarters of the Central External Relations Commission, Comrade Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central External Relations Commission, held talks with Mr. Tahir Budagov, Vice Chairman of the Party and Chief of the Central Office of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Highly appreciating the visit of the New Azerbaijan Party delegation, comrade Le Hoai Trung said that the visit contributed significantly to promoting the cooperative relationship between the two countries in general, and between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the New Azerbaijan Party in particular.

Comrade Le Hoai Trung congratulated and highly appreciated the great achievements that Azerbaijan, under the leadership of the New Azerbaijan Party, has achieved in recent times; affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and enhancing friendly and cooperative relations with traditional friendly countries, including Azerbaijan.

The Head of the Central External Relations Commission sincerely thanked the sincere and valuable assistance that the State and people of Azerbaijan have given to Vietnam in the cause of fighting for national independence as well as in building and developing the country; emphasized the importance of deepening relations between the two ruling parties in the two countries, contributing to consolidating and developing the traditional bilateral friendship between Vietnam and Azerbaijan.

Informing the delegation of the New Azerbaijan Party about some of the main achievements in Vietnam's Doi Moi process, as well as the key goals and tasks of national development in line with the guidelines of the 13th Party Congress, comrade Le Hoai Trung affirmed that Vietnam consistently implements a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development; multilateralizes and diversifies foreign relations, attaches importance to the Party's foreign relations, considering this an important channel to create a political foundation for expanding and strengthening Vietnam's bilateral relations with other countries.

Expressing his pleasure to lead the New Azerbaijan Party delegation to visit Vietnam, Mr. Tahir Budagov affirmed that the relationship between the two countries is built on the foundation of friendship and mutual respect.

Mr. Tahir Budagov expressed his admiration for the victory of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national independence; highly appreciated and congratulated the great achievements that Vietnam has made in recent years under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and expressed his belief that Vietnam will achieve the set goals. He said that President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party, attaches great importance to promoting cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.

The New Azerbaijan Party attaches importance to promoting relations with the Communist Party of Vietnam, considering this a very important political foundation to deepen Vietnam-Azerbaijan relations, meeting the interests of the people of the two countries.

At the talks, the two sides discussed international and regional issues of mutual concern, assessed the good traditional relations and developments in the Vietnam-Azerbaijan relationship; discussed and agreed on directions for implementing cooperation between the two Parties and countries in the coming time in the fields of politics- diplomacy , economy, trade, education, and exchanged experiences in Party building and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The two sides discussed coordination at multilateral political forums, regional and international forums, including ensuring peace and security in the East Sea region in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, for peace and stability in the region and the world, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

On this occasion, comrade Le Hoai Trung and Mr. Tahir Budagov, on behalf of the two Parties, signed the Cooperation Agreement between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the New Azerbaijan Party.
