(PLVN) - The aviation industry is striving to achieve double-digit growth and consolidate and improve the capacity of the infrastructure system to actively contribute to the overall development of the economy, said Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Uong Viet Dung in an interview with Vietnam Law Newspaper.

Aviation strives to achieve 10% growth

- Sir, it is known that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just issued a Directive on developing and improving the efficiency of air transport. What do you expect from the industry's activities this year?

- Since 2024, Vietnam's air transport activities have basically recovered and grown in both international and domestic transport despite being affected by many negative impacts such as fuel price fluctuations, aircraft shortages due to engine recalls, unstable international economic and political situation, escalating armed conflicts in some countries, adverse fluctuations in exchange rates, and the supply chain in the industry is not really stable.

2025 is forecast to continue to be a positive year for air transport, especially international air transport, however, airlines will continue to face the difficulties as mentioned in 2024. 2025 is also the year of acceleration, breakthrough, and reaching the finish line to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, the Socio-Economic Development Plan for the period 2021 - 2026 of the country. In this context, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has issued a Directive on developing and improving the efficiency of air transport (Directive) to provide consistent, focused, and comprehensive direction to all units in the air transport chain; promote the results achieved in 2024 and use resources effectively, ensuring that air transport activities are carried out safely, securely, and with quality.

We request all airlines, airports and advisory agencies of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to proactively implement solutions to develop and improve the efficiency of air transport operations with the goal of best meeting the demand for air transport, maintaining the growth rate of the Vietnamese air transport market, striving to achieve a growth rate of 10%, contributing to the successful implementation of the GDP growth target of over 8% in 2025 set by the Party, Government and National Assembly.

Aviation contributes both directly and indirectly to economic growth.

- What do you think about the contribution of the aviation industry to the GDP growth target of over 8% that the Government is setting?

- The aviation industry is a special technical economic sector, a part of the economy. The development of air transport activities in particular and the aviation industry in general has a mechanical relationship with the development of the economy.

Aviation helps people travel more conveniently and quickly, solves obstacles in geographical distance and terrain, and at the same time contributes to promoting the economic development of localities and regions, helps connect economic sectors, supplements close relationships, connects stages in the supply - production - consumption chain of industries, is an effective way to support the growth of the service and tourism industries as well as a bridge for cultural development, regional and international integration... These are reflected in the role of the aviation industry, with direct and indirect contributions as well as support for the activities and development of other sectors in the national economy, contributing to the overall economy of the country, while helping to improve the quality of life, promoting socio-cultural activities.

In 2025 and beyond with higher goals in the coming years, the aviation industry in general and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam in particular will continue to strive to successfully complete work plans and tasks with a focus on developing the air transport market and consolidating and improving the capacity of the aviation industry's infrastructure system; thereby maintaining growth momentum and effectively contributing to the overall results of the economy.

With an expected growth rate of 10% in air transport by 2025, it can be said that the aviation industry will make an important contribution to achieving Vietnam's growth target of over 8% by 2025.

- Do you have any specific solutions to promote air transport development in the coming time?

- To support and promote the development of air transport in the coming period, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has been and is continuing to synchronously deploy solutions, focusing on groups.

Firstly, there is a group of institutional and policy solutions. In which, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam conducts a review, reports to competent authorities for consideration, promulgation, completion and amendment of relevant mechanisms, policies and legal regulations, creating a suitable and smooth legal corridor to facilitate the development of airlines, as well as creating a driving force to connect and support other industries/fields to develop together;...

Second, is the group of solutions to enhance air transport capacity. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam continues to support airlines to increase their transport force, supplement, adjust and improve the efficiency of aircraft fleet exploitation, increase the supply of flight routes; Effectively, flexibly, publicly and transparently implement the coordination and allocation of take-off and landing times at airports; Adjust and increase coordination parameters in accordance with market developments and forecasts, especially during peak periods of the year;...

The third group of solutions that we focus on implementing is the group of solutions on inspection and supervision. In which, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has been regularly and closely monitoring and supervising the operations of airlines, ensuring security and safety, maintaining and gradually improving the quality of services in air transport operations; Deploying information channels to receive feedback and evaluation of air transport services.

Thank you very much!
