Spacious, clean and bustling

Coming to Cua Lo in the 2023 tourist season, it is easy to see: The tourist space of the coastal town has been expanded and deepened. The sea side is airy. To the west of Binh Minh Street, on the crossroads and main roads, new restaurants and shops have sprung up, crowded and bustling... New restaurants are built spaciously, old restaurants are upgraded. Colorful lights; diners come and go, creating a bustling atmosphere. The face of the city and streets has changed, wearing a new coat.

Tai Tinh Restaurant, located on Nguyen Su Hoi Street, is one of the newly built restaurants and opened on April 14, 2023, coinciding with the opening of the 2023 beach tourism season in Cua Lo town. The restaurant is located in a prime location at the crossroads; has a large investment and is beautifully decorated. Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich - Owner of Tai Tinh Restaurant shared: At the end of 2022, after we and the local authorities cleared the old kiosks, the family immediately looked for a new business location to maintain the job. The family invested over 2 billion VND to build a new seafood restaurant on a larger scale, serving 200-300 diners at the same time. By the beginning of the tourist season, the restaurant was completed to serve tourists.

Similarly, Sao Mai restaurant, located at 33 Nguyen Canh Que street, has also officially opened for business since the beginning of this year's tourist season. This is a solidly built, high-rise, luxurious restaurant, close to a wide road, with comfortable parking. Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai - the restaurant owner said: Previously, it was located on the east coast of Binh Minh street, conveniently located close to the beach so customers could come in to eat right after bathing, but the rental period was short so the kiosks were makeshift and dilapidated. Now that we are renovating and intending to do it for the long term, I decided to build a solid, beautiful, classy restaurant because here we can do business all year round, unlike the beach which only operates for a few months in the summer... The total investment capital is over 4 billion VND.

The newly built restaurants have initially received positive feedback from diners. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong, a tourist from Hanoi, commented: “The fact that the restaurant has moved from the beach to the inside has its advantages. That is, the facilities are more spacious and clean. Groups that need private space will have air-conditioned, closed rooms. The service and quality of seafood are more guaranteed because the new restaurant owners also want to quickly build their own brand.”

According to restaurant owners, when the town had a policy of clearing all the kiosks that blocked the view of the sea on the east side of Binh Minh Street, in order to change the appearance and turn Cua Lo beach into one of the beautiful beaches in the North Central region, the kiosks and restaurants were arranged on the west side of Binh Minh Street and the cross-roads and main roads in the town. The restaurants all strongly supported the locality's policy of renewal and synchronous planning.

Regarding “settling down” in a new location, there are advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that it is inside Binh Minh Street, the location is also very close to the beach, convenient for customers to eat and drink after swimming, and it is safe and less affected by storms and sea winds than before. The new facility is well invested, so tourists and diners appreciate it. The disadvantage is that when moving inside to do business, initially the restaurants will lose many regular customers. Finding new customers is also difficult. Besides, the restaurants have to compete with restaurants in hotels and motels... “All restaurants almost have to start from scratch. However, this is a common situation. Fortunately, the business situation is getting better and better,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich.

Strengthen support, attract tourists

Information from the People's Committee of Cua Lo town: After clearing 209 kiosks in the area east of Binh Minh street at the end of 2022, restaurant owners have found premises in the area west of Binh Minh street to rebuild new business locations, renovate shops, and serve tourists.

Accompanying and supporting restaurants and businesses during this period, Cua Lo town has introduced hundreds of locations to the west of Binh Minh street for people to rent land and build restaurants. During the process of building restaurants, the town has created favorable conditions in guiding the completion of documents, examining and granting licenses; guiding the construction within the right scope, not encroaching on the roadway, sidewalks, landscapes, ensuring food safety and hygiene... The town has licensed over 150 new business locations.

Up to now, the people have invested in building and renovating hundreds of beautiful, modern restaurants. The appearance of the town is much more beautiful than before. The restaurants have all started to operate stably; doing a good job of serving the needs of eating and enjoying seafood of tourists. Tourists also come to the new restaurants in great numbers, especially on weekends.

The town is also focusing on directing relevant departments, offices, units and the People's Committees of wards to speed up the completion of planning, deploy the construction of culinary areas in Nghi Hoa, Nghi Thu culinary areas to arrange more new restaurants to serve tourists. At the same time, it is coordinating with colleges and universities to provide vocational training for tourism workers to improve professionalism. Mr. Hoang Van Phuc - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo town said: In the coming time, to support restaurants to continue to develop, the town will focus on guiding restaurants to improve service quality. Along with that, the town will also promote communication and promotion activities, bringing the image and brand of restaurants to a large number of tourists and diners.

At a higher level, Cua Lo town will focus on improving service quality, creating its own identity; developing diverse, attractive and unique tourism products; developing four-season tourism; investing in synchronous infrastructure; accelerating the completion of investment projects in the area, attracting a number of new projects with advantages and low environmental impact; strengthening the organization of activities to attract tourists such as walking streets, street music, flower lantern festivals, hot air balloon festivals, competitions such as the best chef competition and sports tournaments, coordinating with ministries, departments and branches to organize large conferences and seminars... to attract tourists to Cua Lo, to experience tourism services including food and beverage services.

Mr. Hoang Van Phuc - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cua Lo town stated: In the process of development, we must quickly adapt to new things and new conditions to be able to accelerate. Restaurants need to quickly build new strategies and business methods to improve competitiveness; try to attract tourists and diners with service quality, professional service attitude, price and brand reputation.
