(Dan Tri) - Mrs. Naoko Nishimoto, from Nagasaki (Japan), decided to surrender her driver's license and "return" the car she had owned for 25 years to the manufacturer, on her 80th birthday.
The car that Ms. Naoko Nishimoto handed over to the company was a silver Mazda RX-7, which she bought 25 years ago after seeing it in an anime on TV.
At 80, Nishimoto, although still confident in her driving ability, decided to surrender her driver’s license for safety reasons. This information was made public in the media in September, along with a call to find the car’s heir.

Hundreds of applications poured in from all over. Among the 400 emails Nishimoto received was an offer from Mazda to buy the car for use as a promotional vehicle.
The car was handed over at a dealership in Nagasaki Prefecture on December 18, Nishimoto’s birthday. Her last words to her “companion” were “thank you.”
"It felt like the road, the car and my body had become one. I was very careful when driving it," Ms. Nishimoto shared.
At the ceremony, the store representative expressed gratitude for Ms. Nishimoto's careful use and preservation of the car for more than two decades.
"We will continue to write new stories based on the inspiring story of Ms. Nishimoto and the RX-7," said the car company representative.
For her part, Ms. Nishimoto confided: "I don't feel lonely knowing that the car will continue to bring joy to many other people."
