On the afternoon of November 29, regarding the story of whether torn lottery tickets were considered for prize payment, a former leader of Kien Giang Province Lottery Company confirmed that in 2013, the provincial lottery council also considered paying a prize of 100 million VND for the torn lottery ticket of Mr. Duong Van Tung in Long Xuyen City (An Giang).
"The story about the reward has been around for a long time. I don't know what the regulations are now," he said.
Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that Mr. Tung bought a lottery ticket with the number 359583 drawn on February 3, 2013. This lottery ticket won a consolation prize of 100 million VND. Because the lottery ticket was torn in two, it was not initially considered for the prize.
After that, the Kien Giang Provincial Lottery Council met to consider the content of the Ministry of Finance's dispatch responding to Mr. Tung's case, which had attracted public attention. After voting, the majority agreed to pay him the prize.
On April 29, 2013, Mr. Tung in Long Xuyen City (An Giang) went to the headquarters of Kien Giang Lottery Company to complete the procedure to receive the prize for the lottery ticket that was torn in half. After deducting taxes, he still received 91 million VND.
