Workers work through the holidays to complete Dai Ngai 2 Bridge ahead of schedule

During the September 2nd holiday this year, most of the workers working far away from Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai... chose to return to their hometowns for the holiday, but at the construction site of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge (Soc Trang), hundreds of workers were still working hard, with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", to soon bring the project to the finish line.

Workers worked enthusiastically through the National Day holiday on September 2 at the construction site of Dai Ngai 2 Bridge.

According to information from Project Management Board 85 (investor), currently, the construction output of Dai Ngai 2 bridge has reached more than 41%.

The route and the works on the route basically meet the planned progress. The roadbed embankment work has reached about 39% and the drainage wick installation work has reached 31%.

Dai Ngai 2 Bridge is ahead of schedule, completing about 90% of the substructure and 20% of the cantilever span volume.

At the Dai Ngai 2 bridge construction site, contractors are urgently deploying 18 construction teams (including 7 road construction teams, 11 bridge construction teams) with more than 270 workers and site commanders.

Along with that, contractors also mobilized 97 machines and equipment of all kinds to construct Dai Ngai 2 Bridge during the National Day holiday on September 2, in order to speed up the project's completion.

To speed up the progress to compensate for the delayed volume, contractors mobilized more than 270 workers along with nearly 100 machines and equipment to the construction site to add overtime and construction crews.

According to the leader of Project Management Board 85, in the past, the project encountered difficulties due to lack of sand materials for filling the foundation, and heavy rains affecting the progress of the route. Up to now, the difficulties have been basically resolved, and contractors are speeding up the progress to compensate for the slow volume.

According to Mr. Dinh Le Thong, Executive Director of Dai Ngai Bridge project, during this time, the area has a lot of rain, with the spirit of "overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", the construction units have built a roof on the construction site, ensuring continuous construction.

It is expected that girder installation will begin in November 2024, striving to basically complete the span structure in May 2025, and complete the entire Dai Ngai 2 bridge in 2025.

A worker constructing the road on the bank of Long Phu district, Soc Trang province shared: "The workers at the construction site do not mind the rain or shine, dividing into shifts, trying to complete the project as soon as possible. During the holidays, the workers also get bonuses, so most of them are happy and work hard."

Dai Ngai 2 Bridge connects Long Phu district with Cu Lao Dung of Soc Trang province, expected to be completed in 2025.

The Dai Ngai Bridge construction project (crossing the Hau River) has a total length of 15.14km, starting at the intersection with National Highway 54 (in Hung Hoa Commune, Tieu Can District, Tra Vinh Province) and ending at the intersection with Nam Song Hau National Highway (Long Duc Commune, Long Phu District, Soc Trang Province).

The route is designed as a grade III plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h, four lanes, and a total investment of nearly VND8,000 billion. The project started on October 15, 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2026.

The Dai Ngai Bridge construction project includes two main bridge works (Dai Ngai 1 and Dai Ngai 2 bridges) which are fully invested with four lanes. The investment section is divided into phase 1 with two lanes with a cross-section width of 12m, a design speed of 80km/h, and a high-class A1 road surface.

The completion of Dai Ngai Bridge helps connect the entire National Highway 60, improving transportation capacity for the Mekong Delta region, creating a belt connecting the coastal provinces of the West with Ho Chi Minh City.

At the same time, it helps reduce traffic pressure on National Highway 1, shortening the distance from Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa by about 80km compared to the existing National Highway 1.
