Attending the program were Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Party Central Committee member, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Nguyen Dinh Khang.
Also attending the program were leaders of the Central Committees, Ministries, branches, unions, and agencies; former leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; members of the Presidium, leaders of Committees, units, leaders of provincial and municipal labor federations; Central and equivalent industry unions; General corporation unions under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and representatives of cadres, union members, workers, and civil servants.
At the beginning of the program, delegates performed the flag-saluting ceremony and observed a minute of silence, expressing their respect and deep gratitude to the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - who always had special affection and attention for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union.
Vietnam Trade Union is constantly growing and maturing.
Speaking at the program, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang reviewed the tradition of the Vietnam Trade Union and affirmed: Over 95 years, through countless difficulties and challenges, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnam Trade Union has continuously grown and matured; is a reliable and loyal force and support of the Party, closely attached to the flesh and blood, wholeheartedly striving for the interests of the working class and laborers.
"In each historical period, the working class and the Trade Union have made worthy contributions to the great victory of the Vietnamese revolution. Generations of cadres and trade union members have strived, made efforts, contributed and sacrificed for the Fatherland, embellishing the passionate patriotic tradition of the Vietnamese people and the heroic and indomitable tradition of solidarity and struggle of the Vietnamese working class," the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor emphasized.
According to the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, up to now, the Vietnam Trade Union has cooperative relations with more than 50 international trade union organizations, national trade unions of countries and international organizations in the world, contributing to the common achievements of people's foreign affairs and the common development of the world's workers and trade union movement.
With its achievements, the Vietnam Trade Union has been honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and the State: twice the Gold Star Order; three times the Ho Chi Minh Order; twice the Second and Third Class Independence Order. Trade unions at all levels and many trade union officials have been awarded the Independence Order and the Labor Order.
This year, with the outstanding achievements of "Making great contributions to the socio-economic development of the country, ensuring social security, humanitarian charity, applying scientific and technological advances, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland", the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal from the Party and the State. This is a recognition and proof of the achievements and contributions of the Vietnam Trade Union organization to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our nation.
Continue to innovate the activities of the Trade Union organization
Speaking at the program, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man acknowledged the outstanding results that the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union have achieved in recent times and affirmed that the growth of the working class and the results that the Vietnam Trade Union has achieved in recent years are the crystallization of many factors, in which we especially acknowledge the efforts and contributions of the trade union cadres at all levels, of which the exemplary trade union cadres who were awarded the Nguyen Van Linh Award, the excellent grassroots trade union and labor union chairmen who were honored today are the most typical examples.
According to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, the requirements for promoting industrialization, modernization, and increasingly deep international integration and the impact of the 4.0 industrial revolution pose new opportunities and challenges for the Trade Union organization. Therefore, the National Assembly Chairman requested that Trade Unions at all levels continue to effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; Resolution No. 02 of the Politburo on innovation of the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Unions in the new situation and the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and policies on Trade Union organization and operation.
Along with that, regularly carry out social supervision and criticism and participate in Party and government building at all levels, building strong enough Trade Union resources to meet the tasks that the Party, State, society and all workers and employees trust and assign.
At the same time, promptly advise the Party and the State on issues related to employment, workers' lives and organizing activities of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Grasp the situation of employment, income, life, listen to the aspirations of workers and union officials to develop programs and plans; organize and implement them resolutely and effectively, focusing on strongly applying information technology in all activities of the General Confederation of Labor; innovate propaganda and mobilization work, take care of training to improve political capacity, educational level, professional skills, industrial style, labor discipline, legal awareness of union members and workers; ensure labor safety and hygiene for workers.
Proactively contribute to the preparation process for the 14th National Party Congress, effectively propagate and implement laws and resolutions of the National Assembly, including many new regulations and policies related to workers; promptly deploy regulations on reforming salary policies, adjusting pensions, social insurance benefits, monthly allowances, preferential allowances for meritorious people and a number of other social security policies effective from July 1, 2024.
At the program, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor decided to award the 4th Nguyen Van Linh Award to 10 Trade Union officials. This award is named after a highly prestigious leader of the Party, State and people, who held the position of President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor from 1977 to 1980, a leader of innovative thinking, saying must go hand in hand with doing, theory must be closely linked to practice.
The 10 union officials at all levels receiving the Nguyen Van Linh Award in 2024 are all typical factors, making important contributions to building a strong union organization, building a modern, strong Vietnamese working class, pioneering in the cause of innovation, contributing to realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor also decided to honor 95 outstanding grassroots trade union and labor union chairmen nationwide for the 5th time. These are exemplary models in their work; with many initiatives, creativity, and solutions effectively applied in performing the tasks of the trade union organization.
Previously, on July 27, a delegation of outstanding trade union officials and leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor offered incense and reported their achievements at the Memorial House of Comrade Nguyen Van Linh in Hung Yen and the Memorial Site of Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh in Hai Phong.
