Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An said that immediately after receiving information related to the incident of students being disrespectful to a female teacher at Van Phu Secondary School (Son Duong District, Tuyen Quang), on November 29, the Vietnam Education Trade Union directed the Education Trade Union of Tuyen Quang Province to coordinate with the Labor Federation of Son Duong District to strictly handle the incident. In particular, resolutely handle violations of ethics, lifestyle, and insulting teachers in educational institutions.
The incident of a teacher being pushed against a wall by a group of students and insulted forced the Vietnam Education Trade Union to issue a document requesting increased protection for teachers.
After this incident, the Vietnam Education Trade Union sent a document requesting the trade unions of provinces and cities to propose and coordinate with the Department of Education and Training; units and schools to strengthen measures to educate students, implement school discipline and school discipline.
Thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the motto: "Teachers are teachers - students are students" in schools. At the same time, direct school unions to review information, grasp emerging issues, promptly intervene, resolve, and rectify to avoid violations of teachers' ethics regulations and students' violations of discipline. Especially issues related to school management and administration.
The Vietnam Education Trade Union directs the grassroots, coordinates with the district labor federations to direct the trade unions of schools in the area to take measures to protect the honor, dignity, and lives of teachers and workers.
Continue to effectively implement the improvement of pedagogical behavior capacity and teachers' ethics to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation. In particular, focus on supporting teachers to have solid professional capacity; have skills to handle and resolve pedagogical situations; have the responsibility to protect personal honor and the reputation and honor of the school and the education sector.
"Urge social opinion collaborators of the Vietnam Education Trade Union at schools to promptly detect and reflect arising issues to receive specific guidance," the document stated.
On the morning of December 7, confirming with the press, Mr. Giang Tuan Anh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Duong District (Tuyen Quang), said that he had just issued Decision No. 7710 to temporarily suspend Mr. Tran Duy Sang, Principal of Van Phu Secondary School (Van Phu Commune, Son Duong District), from his position and work for 15 days, to serve the verification and clarification of the incident related to the content of the school's teacher management work.
Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, at around 10:30 a.m. on November 29, at Van Phu Secondary School, when it was time for the 3rd period of music in class 7C, teacher Phan Thi H. entered the classroom to teach, but there were still students outside who had not yet entered the classroom.
When Ms. H. reminded them, some students reacted. After a while, some students asked to leave, but Ms. H. did not agree. After that, there were problems between the teacher and the students during class.
After finishing the third period of class 7C, Ms. H. went to teach the fourth period of class 6A. After the period, some students from class 7C went to class 6A and continued to speak and behave inappropriately towards Ms. H. (swearing, insulting the teacher, recording a video and posting it on Facebook).
Upon receiving information about the incident, the District People's Committee directed the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with the Department of Internal Affairs, District Police and relevant agencies to verify, resolve information about the incident, and report in accordance with regulations.
On December 6, the Ministry of Education and Training issued an urgent directive on this incident, requesting localities to strictly handle the serious ethical violations of students towards teachers. On the same afternoon, at the regular Government press conference in November, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that this was "a very serious incident with unacceptable behavior".
