On September 19, Quang Ninh Provincial Police informed about the discovery and handling of 2 individuals who posted false information about the storm situation in Quang Ninh on social networks, causing confusion and indignation among the public.

Accordingly, the Department of Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Quang Ninh Provincial Police discovered two cases, PTLA (born in 1997, in Cam Phu Ward, Cam Pha City) and PTVA (born in 1991, in Ha Trung Ward, Ha Long City) who used their personal Facebook accounts to post information: "There is a human hand inside the belly of a grouper caught...", causing confusion and indignation among the public.

In response to the above incident, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police summoned the two above cases to work.

At the police station, the two individuals admitted that the information posted was distorted and baseless, with the purpose of creating sensational headlines, “baiting” for likes, and increasing interactions for their Facebook accounts. Based on the verification results and collected documents, the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department requested the two individuals to remove all posts with false content posted on Facebook, and at the same time consolidate the case files to handle the two cases according to the law.

At the same time, Quang Ninh Provincial Police also advised people to be alert and not listen to unverified information on social networks; to follow official information from press agencies and state organizations; not to post or share false information on social networks. The authorities will continue to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen the work of checking and grasping the situation on cyberspace, detecting individuals and organizations that take advantage of information from storm and flood situations to post false, unverified information on cyberspace and strictly handle them according to the provisions of law.
