The Editorial Board of Tien Phong newspaper has sent a dispatch requesting the Vietnam Journalists Association, Dak Lak Provincial Journalists Association, the Provincial Police, the Department of Information and Communications of this province, Cu Kuin District Police and relevant agencies to investigate and handle the case.
Previously, on May 25, to ensure the legal rights of journalists according to current law, the Editorial Board of Tien Phong newspaper sent a dispatch requesting the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Dak Lak Provincial Journalists Association, the Provincial Police, the Department of Information and Communications of this province, the Cu Kuin District Police and relevant agencies to investigate and strictly handle subjects with threatening behavior, protect journalists working and ensure security and safety in the area.
Speaking to the Journalist & Public Opinion newspaper, Mr. Phung Cong Suong - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong newspaper said that the Secretary of the Cu Kuin District Party Committee, Dak Lak has directed early and responsible intervention. In addition, the Dak Lak provincial police have investigated, extracted images from cameras to assess the situation of illegal land exploitation... from there, they have identified and found out the subjects who made threatening phone calls to journalists.
"Most units actively participated in finding the culprits and strictly handling them to protect the legal working rights of reporters and the press in the area in general and Tien Phong newspaper in particular" - journalist Phung Cong Suong shared.
Journalist Tuan Nguyen, in charge of the Tien Phong Newspaper Representative Office in the Central Highlands region - the person who was threatened to be killed - said he also sent a complaint with a recording of the threatening call and related evidence to the Provincial Police, Internal Political Security Department (PA03).
On the afternoon of May 27, Mr. Le Thai Dung, Secretary of Cu Kuin District Party Committee, said that he had asked the Commune Chairman and Commune Police to verify and that an initial report and explanation would be available on Monday morning.
In addition, the Secretary of the Cu Kuin District Party Committee said that he would request a report and explanation for the delay in providing relevant information and the minutes of handling violations of individuals illegally leveling and transporting soil elsewhere to Tien Phong newspaper.
