Kien Giang police simultaneously issue ID cards to people

To ensure all conditions for the new task, early in the morning of July 1, Colonel Nguyen Nhat Truong - Deputy Director of Kien Giang Provincial Police presided over the launching ceremony for collecting ID card and ID certificate applications. In which, Colonel Nguyen Nhat Truong requested the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order and the Police of districts and cities to mobilize maximum forces and means to organize the collection of ID card and ID certificate applications according to the 2023 ID Law. In addition, strengthen extensive propaganda among officers, soldiers and people about the provisions of the ID Law, documents guiding its implementation; new points of the ID Law, iris biometrics and the superiority of the ID Law.

Also this morning, Colonel Nguyen Nhat Truong directly inspected the work of receiving ID card applications at the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Chau Thanh and An Bien District Police.

It is known that the 2023 Law on Identification has many new points compared to the 2014 Law on Citizen Identification, including switching from issuing Citizen Identification Cards to Identity Cards; issuing Identity Certificates to people of Vietnamese origin whose nationality has not been determined.

At the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Kien Giang Provincial Police at 04 Ly Thuong Kiet (Vinh Thanh Ward, Rach Gia City), early in the morning, many people lined up to apply for ID cards, including many citizens under 14 years old, a new subject stipulated in the ID Law.

At Chau Thanh District Police, Mr. Tran Van Hue (75 years old), in Giuc Tuong Commune, Chau Thanh District, Kien Giang Province, was very happy because he and his son had just had their application for an Identity Card accepted by the police officers. Mr. Hue said that for more than 30 years, he and his son had not been issued identification papers because their nationality had not been determined. "Now, according to the new Identity Law, being issued identification papers, my son and I feel more secure in making a living. I am very happy. I thank the State and the Police very much," Mr. Hue shared.

In addition, at Phu Quoc International Airport, Phu Quoc City Police organize the issuance of Identity Cards for Vietnamese people whose nationality has not been determined.
