Da Nang police discover many new drug camouflage tricks

(HNMO) - On June 18, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Da Nang Police issued a warning about the appearance of some new types of drugs disguised as food and drinks in the area.

Specifically, drugs disguised as candy, functional foods, pharmaceuticals... are produced and packaged with permission from foreign authorities and brought to Vietnam. Or drugs are mixed, marinated, packaged by criminals as food, drinks, disguised and hidden in coffee packages, cakes, soft drinks with names such as: WHITE COFFE, COFFE HOUSE, CHALI, COLLAGEN, JUST DO IT, YAOYAO...

These types have quite eye-catching designs, are diverse and easy to use or in the form of herbs, electronic cigarettes..., if people, especially teenagers, students, accidentally use them, they can easily be poisoned, even endangering their lives. Most recently, on June 16, Da Nang Police arrested 3 subjects, confiscated 2 packages of COFFEE HOUSE inside of which was a powder suspected to contain drug ingredients.

Previously, the Police, Coast Guard, and Border Guard forces of Da Nang City arrested many subjects illegally buying, selling, and storing drugs disguised as bags of instant coffee.

Criminals often use the method of trading and buying and selling mainly on cyberspace. After agreeing on the quantity and price, they will hire units or individuals to transport the goods without directly transacting with each other. When exposed, they will delete their accounts to avoid responsibility; when arrested, the subjects often say they do not know it is drugs to deny the crime.

With many types of camouflage, easy to find, easy to buy, easy to use, new types of drugs have quietly crept in and caused many difficulties for authorities in detecting and fighting to prevent. More dangerously, Da Nang City Police also discovered that the subject soaked ADB-4en-PINACA into tobacco fibers and mixed it into e-cigarette solution.

This is a new drug that causes hallucinations and is very difficult to detect by conventional methods. This substance is not on the list of drugs in Vietnam, so it is causing difficulties in the fight against and handling of crimes of illegal use, transportation and trafficking of this substance. Currently, some countries in the world, such as the US, UK, Canada... have put ADB-4en-PINACA on the control list.

Therefore, Da Nang City Police recommends that people need to be vigilant, regularly update and monitor information about the harmful effects of new drugs disguised as food and drinks to recognize and prevent them; students, university students, people working in professions such as drivers, shippers... should not be subjective, lose vigilance to be taken advantage of and lured.

Drug camouflage tricks are increasingly diverse, people need to be vigilant.

Parents need to manage, remind, and guide their children not to "eat" or "try" strange "candies", foods, and preparations. Along with that, educate children about the harmful effects of drugs, especially for adolescents who tend to want to assert themselves and are curious about new things...

Business owners who discover or suspect that new drugs are being disguised as food or drinks of unknown origin should immediately report to the nearest authorities or police agency.
