Recently, a coffee shop in Jiangxi Province (China) launched a new drink that immediately became a hit. The shop's new dish is a blend of coffee and hot peppers.
A video circulating on social media shows the cafe staff putting sliced chili peppers into cups of coffee, then adding chili powder, before serving it to customers. The cafe sells about 300 cups of coffee a day. Each cup costs about $3.
Jiangxi Province is one of the spiciest regions in China. The drink that is creating the new trend is called Jiangxi Spicy Latte.
"I don't find it too spicy. On the contrary, it tastes very good. This coffee is not as strange as people think," said a staff member of the shop.
Most customers after enjoying the spicy coffee had positive feedback. "The chili coffee is not bad, it tastes a little spicy and a little sweet," commented one customer.
However, the chilli-infused drink has raised health concerns. "It's creative. But I dare not try it because I'm afraid it might upset my stomach"; "I guess there might be a problem after eating spicy food"; "I'm shocked, the drink is absurdly unusual"... netizens commented.
