Stocks were in the red for most of the session on October 13, but bounced back right before closing thanks to some stocks that increased dramatically, such as Vietjet.

After a series of 5 consecutive increases, selling pressure dominated today's session. VN-Index fell below the reference after ATO, maintaining the decline until mid-afternoon. Red covered the board with declines in most key groups, such as securities, banking, and real estate. Oil and gas was the rare group that remained green, but the increase was lower than in recent sessions.

This trend continued until 2 p.m., when cash flow began to participate more actively. The red gradually narrowed as some groups of stocks returned to green. At ATC, a few stocks increased dramatically, such as Vietjet, helping the HoSE index surpass the reference.

At the end of the session, VN-Index closed at 1,154.73 points, up 3.12 points and extending the 6-session winning streak. VN30-Index gained more than 1 point. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, HNX-Index remained green, while UPCOM-Index decreased slightly.

Total market liquidity reached nearly VND16,600 billion, with HoSE liquidity accounting for nearly VND14,000 billion. Foreign investors net sold nearly VND284 billion today.

The largest gainer in the large-cap group was Vietjet's VJC stock. This code opened in the green but fell below the reference price at the end of the morning session. VJC then moved sideways until 2 p.m., before suddenly increasing sharply. In just the last 30 minutes of the session, this code jumped more than 6%, closing at VND103,800.

In addition to VJC, GVR and MWG also traded actively with an increase of more than 2%, SAB added 1.7%, BID, VCB, HDB, VRE, MBB closed above reference.

In the mid-cap group, some codes also traded abnormally. PDR closed the morning session down more than 2%, but like VJC, this code increased sharply after 2 p.m. At the end of the session, PDR hit the ceiling with liquidity of nearly 16 million shares changed hands. Some industrial park real estate codes such as VGC and IDC closed up more than 2%.

On the contrary, some banking and real estate codes were in red. In VN30, VIB, VHM, BCM, CTG decreased by more than 1%, TCB, VIC, BVH lost nearly 1% of market value.
