Apple is in final talks with Google to integrate its Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) tool into the iPhone line.
"The two companies are actively working on licenses that would allow Apple to use Google's generative AI models. This could bring some new features to the iPhone's software this year," Bloomberg quoted a source familiar with the matter as saying.

Insider sources said the two sides have yet to decide on specific terms and how Gemini will be integrated into the iPhone.
The deal between Apple and Google is driven by the two companies’ search engine distribution partnership. For years, Google has paid billions of dollars to be the default search engine in the Safari browser on iPhones and other Apple devices.
"The handshake to integrate Gemini on iPhone could take effect by the end of 2024. This deal could then shake up the AI industry" – Bloomberg commented.
Following the news, Apple's stock price rose 2.2% on March 18. Meanwhile, Alphabet (Google's parent company) saw its stock price rise 7.4% - the biggest gain since February 2023.
Additionally, Apple is also said to have held similar discussions with OpenAI and considered using the company's AI models.
"Apple" is still developing new features of the iOS 18 operating system version based on its "homegrown" AI model.
Several sources revealed that Apple had been internally testing a large language model codenamed Ajax in early 2023. Many of the company's employees had been testing a chatbot called Apple GPT.
However, reviews say that Apple's technology is still inferior to competitors from Google and OpenAI. Therefore, cooperation in development will be a better choice for Apple in the future.
"The deal will bring the relationship between Apple and Google to the highest level since Gemini was launched. Apple has more than 2 billion devices in use globally and all of them can be integrated with Gemini by the end of this year" - Bloomberg concluded.
