The historic storm Yagi has caused serious consequences in the Northwest region, especially Sa Pa town. After the storm's circulation, a series of flash floods and landslides occurred, burying roads, causing heavy damage to people and property.
Efforts to share and ease the pain
In order to support people in flood-hit areas to overcome difficulties, on November 27, Saigon Co.op coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association (HUBA) and the Entrepreneurs for Community Fund to organize the inauguration ceremony of 2 new houses in Sa Pa town with a total construction cost of 100 million VND.
The solid roofs not only help people stabilize their lives after natural disasters but are also a symbol of sharing and the spirit of "mutual love" of Saigon Co.op.
Previously, Saigon Co.op and the Co.opmart system in the North coordinated with the Central Red Cross Society and volunteer organizations to transport thousands of essential gifts to affected areas. The shipments included bottled water, canned meat, canned fish, cakes, milk and essential items, which helped people overcome the most difficult period.
As soon as the storm subsided, Saigon Co.op distribution centers operated 24/7 to coordinate vehicles and ensure goods reached distribution centers in the North quickly. A series of transport vehicles were mobilized, ensuring uninterrupted supply.
In particular, more than 200 tons of vegetables from Dong Nai, Lam Dong and the Western provinces, including water spinach, cabbage, cucumber, tomato and fruit, were urgently transported to the North to promptly serve the consumption needs of the people.
In addition to providing goods, Saigon Co.op also encouraged employees from unaffected areas to volunteer in disaster-hit areas. Volunteers have actively contributed to distributing relief goods and helping people restore their daily lives.
The relief efforts after Typhoon Yagi are a clear demonstration of Saigon Co.op's commitment. Through initiatives to provide non-profit goods, maintain stable prices and expand humanitarian support programs,... Saigon Co.op continues to affirm its pioneering role in building a strong community, not only in business but also in social action.
