Socio -economic growth is higher than the national average.
In 2023, the North Central and Central Coastal Coordination Council achieved positive results. In particular, socio-economic development targets were quite good with a growth rate of 5.51%, higher than the national average growth rate (5.05%). The average GRDP of the region reached 75.6 million VND/person, an increase of 8% compared to 2022, the growth rate of social labor productivity reached about 5.5%, higher than the national average (3.65%).
Regarding provincial planning, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has presided over and appraised the provincial planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050. By December 31, 2023, the Prime Minister had approved 13/14 provincial plans. There is one plan for Quang Nam province that has been appraised and is being completed for submission to the Prime Minister for promulgation, basically meeting the quality requirements set forth.
Regarding regional planning, the Ministry of Planning and Investment has completed the North Central and Central Coastal Region Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, which has been appraised by the State Appraisal Council and reported to the Prime Minister for approval. It has compiled a list of intra-regional and inter-regional infrastructure investment projects, consistent with the list in Resolution No. 168/NQ-CP of the Government implementing the action program to implement Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo .
At the North Central and Central Coast Regional Coordination Council Conference held today (January 13), Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Duy Dong assessed that 2023 focused on perfecting the organization and stabilizing the operational apparatus of the Regional Coordination Council.
At the same time, complete major tasks, focusing on submitting for approval the North Central and Central Coastal Region Planning. This will serve as a basis for spatial organization of socio-economic activities, urban and rural systems, infrastructure, resource use and environmental protection in the region and in accordance with the requirements of socio-economic development in each period.
Building specific policies and mechanisms for socio-economic development is a key task.
Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong said that the Ministry of Planning and Investment has drafted the Operation Plan of the Regional Coordination Council in 2024.
"The key task of the region in 2024 is to build a specific policy mechanism for socio-economic development. The Ministry of Planning and Investment has sent two documents to ministries, branches and localities reporting on the review of the region's policy mechanism. Therefore, the members of the Regional Council are required to urgently direct the implementation according to the required documents. On that basis, a conference will be held to widely collect opinions from ministries, branches, localities, experts, scientists and complete the report to the Prime Minister according to regulations" - the Deputy Minister stated.
Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that, based on approved plans, localities need to coordinate with ministries and branches to immediately identify local projects that are related to at least two localities. Especially in the field of transportation, connecting infrastructure and important projects for regional development, localities should proactively propose joint cooperation and coordination activities.
"In 2024, the opportunity to attract investment for localities is very large. It is necessary to proactively specify planning plans, create clean land, train high-quality human resources... to welcome domestic and foreign investment capital. The Regional Coordination Council and the Ministry of Planning and Investment will coordinate with ministries and branches to support localities in attracting projects in accordance with approved planning" - the Minister emphasized.
