Tonight (November 12), Hanoi Police Club announced the appointment of coach Gong Oh Kyun. Previously, the former coach of the Vietnam U23 team was in Hanoi to sign a contract with the 2023 V-League champion team.

The Hanoi Police Club homepage wrote: "After the negotiation process, Mr. Gong Oh Kyun agreed to sign a new contract to become the new head coach of the Hanoi Police Club.
The Korean strategist returned to Vietnam with the goal of challenging himself by sitting in the hot seat of a professional club for the first time.
With the development of V.League in recent years, Mr. Gong Oh Kyun wants to have the opportunity to better understand the highest level of Vietnamese football and assert himself.
In addition, choosing Hanoi Police Club, one of the most ambitious teams in Vietnamese football, is also a decision that fits the direction and upcoming goals of the Korean coach."
In the past, Coach Gong Oh Kyun was the head coach of U23 Vietnam. He helped the team compete quite successfully in the 2022 U23 Asian Cup. However, he later unexpectedly parted ways with U23 Vietnam due to not reaching an agreement to extend the contract.
With the arrival of coach Gong Oh Kyun, the Hanoi Police Club is able to pursue an attractive attacking style of play. That is the philosophy that the Korean coach once applied to the Vietnam U23 team.
Coach Gong Oh Kyun is expected to make his debut for the Hanoi Police Club against Hoang Anh Gia Lai on November 25. The police club is currently ranked second in the V-League standings with 7 points after 3 matches, 2 points behind the top team Nam Dinh.
