Facilitate business, reduce logistics costs

This morning (May 2), at Cao Xa station, Vietnam Railways Corporation launched the first freight train from Cao Xa to participate in the international transit route.

The train consists of 12 containers carrying sulfur, aluminum and milk, packed at factories in the provinces of Hai Duong , Hai Phong and Hung Yen. After departing and arriving at Yen Vien station, the train will be connected to international transit trains for export to China.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Canh, Vice Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, emphasized: With international intermodal transport activities at Cao Xa station, logistics service providers will have more optimal rail transport solutions to reduce costs and time for transporting goods, increase business efficiency, and contribute to socio -economic development and international cooperation.

On the local side, Mr. Trieu The Hung, Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, said that Hai Duong is located in the key economic zone, the economic triangle system of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh; economic growth rate is over 8%. According to the plan, by 2030 there will be 32 industrial parks and over 60 industrial clusters. To date, the province has 550 foreign investment projects with investment capital of over 20 billion USD, ranking 11th in the country.

With the increasing import and export of goods, the province is planning to upgrade Cao Xa station into an intermodal station connecting with seaports and airports. The station is located near industrial zones, so upgrading to transport import and export goods is necessary, helping businesses reduce transportation costs, shorten delivery time, transport directly across the border, avoiding transportation congestion like by road.

Bringing railway border gates deep inland

Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of Vietnam Railway Corporation, emphasized that the implementation of freight transport activities, including international transit cargo at Cao Xa station, aims to implement the "Plan to improve the capacity of domestic and international freight transport by rail" approved by the Prime Minister.

"Regarding railway transport, from Cao Xa station to Yen Vien station is about 50km, from here, international transit transport is conveniently organized to China and other countries through Lao Cai and Dong Dang border gates, as well as domestic transport to the Central and Southern provinces, while attracting customers from neighboring provinces of Hai Duong province such as Hung Yen, Thai Binh...", Mr. Khanh said and informed that, right after the opening ceremony, the railway has a plan to connect Cao Xa station with the system of international transit stations such as Yen Vien, Lao Cai, Dong Dang... to be able to most effectively exploit international transit transport services by rail at Cao Xa station.

According to Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation, this is the first international freight train after Cao Xa station completed the first phase of renovation and upgrading and is also an important "stepping stone" to turn Cao Xa station into an international freight station in the future. After Kep station (Bac Giang), Cao Xa station is the second station that Vietnam Railways Corporation has renovated and upgraded to continue realizing the goal of bringing the railway border gate deep into the inland.

Accordingly, in phase 1, Vietnam Railways Corporation has completed the renovation and upgrading of the cargo yard within the railway land under its management and met the minimum requirements for a specialized bonded yard such as: Renovating railway No. 3 into a vehicle pick-up and storage road with a length of about 600m; building a new loading and unloading railway about 250m long; building a new office, customs service, warehouse, cargo yard, etc.

After completing the investment, construction and putting into operation phase 1, Cao Xa station becomes a cargo station in the railway freight transport network, actively participating in domestic freight transport from Hai Duong to other provinces and vice versa; at the same time becoming an important link, participating in the international intermodal transport journey.

In phase 2, if approved by competent authorities, Vietnam Railways Corporation will continue to upgrade and renovate Cao Xa station to meet the conditions of an international transit station, meeting regulations on conditions for duty-free business, warehouses, locations for customs procedures, assembly, inspection, and digital customs supervision.

At that time, Cao Xa station will organize the exploitation of two international transit routes. Route 1: Cao Xa - Yen Vien (Hanoi) - Kep (Bac Giang) - Dong Dang (Lang Son) - Bang Tuong (Guangxi, China), from here going deep into mainland China or transiting to Central Asian countries, Russia, EU. Route 2: Cao Xa - Lao Cai - Son Yeu (Ha Khau Bac, Yunnan, China) and changing means of transport going deep into mainland China.

In particular, after upgrading, import and export goods can carry out customs procedures right at Cao Xa station, transported by intermodal rail to border gates to other countries, shortening the time for procedures as well as transportation.

The opening of the first freight train from Cao Xa after more than 2 months of urgently completing the renovation and upgrading of phase 1 demonstrates the efforts of the Hai Duong provincial government and Vietnam Railways Corporation in speeding up the progress of putting into operation a new type of transport, creating favorable conditions for the export and import of goods for businesses in Hai Duong province and neighboring provinces; contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.

It is expected that on May 20, Hai Duong province will organize the opening of Thanh Ha lychee garden and cut the ribbon to export the first lychee shipment at Cao Xa station.

Cao Xa Station is located on the Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line, currently has three railways and a cargo yard, responsible for giving way to trains and loading and unloading goods. The station is about 5km from the center of Hai Duong city, 2km from Tien Kieu port , connecting district road 194B with provincial roads, national highways to localities in and outside the province, near many industrial parks, factories with large import and export needs .

Regarding rail transport, from Cao Xa station to Yen Vien station is about 50km, from here organizing international transport to China and other countries through Lao Cai and Dong Dang border gates is very convenient.
