Continue to emphasize Vietnam's responsible contribution in dealing with global challenges

According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, the Prime Minister's first working trip to attend the WEF Davos Conference this year is important in many aspects, including the fact that this is an ideal time for us to share, inform, and promote the achievements, orientations, and strategies for national development, Vietnam's foreign policies and guidelines, and convey a strong message about a dynamic and innovative Vietnam, an attractive investment destination for global corporations. From there, we will transform our current favorable foreign environment into specific economic cooperation results, practical investment projects, and create new driving forces to promote the country's rapid and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister's participation at the Conference, along with his sharing, assessment and proposals on the situation, viewpoints, development thinking at the global level, and solutions to promote growth and address emerging challenges, will continue to affirm Vietnam's responsible and effective contributions to peace, development and issues of common concern, thereby further enhancing the country's position and prestige in the international arena, especially with the global business community.

According to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Prime Minister is expected to have a continuous program of activities at this year's WEF Davos Conference, including attending and speaking at important discussion sessions, including some special sessions dedicated to Vietnam; chairing many discussions with leaders of leading corporations, and bilateral meetings with leaders of countries, international organizations and businesses.

The fact that Vietnam is one of nine partners proposed by WEF to coordinate in organizing a National Strategy Dialogue with WEF and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is one of eight leaders of countries having a private dialogue with WEF demonstrates the interest, recognition and appreciation of WEF as well as multinational corporations for the role, international position, achievements and development vision of Vietnam.

In that spirit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation will participate and actively contribute to the Conference. Firstly, the Prime Minister will share Vietnam's assessments, comments and views on the prospects, opportunities and challenges, the adjustment trends of the world economy in both structure and model, affecting the development of the world and each country. From the experiences and lessons of Vietnam and ASEAN, the Prime Minister will propose both short-term and long-term solutions to strengthen international solidarity, rebuild trust, promote cooperation between countries, between the Government and businesses and partners to share common responsibilities, turn the situation around, and turn challenges into opportunities.

Second, we will also continue to emphasize Vietnam's responsible contribution in addressing global challenges, especially in areas where we have strengths such as food security, smart agriculture, climate change adaptation, equitable energy transition, etc.; share experiences in macroeconomic management, promptly grasp and proactively anticipate new trends, and Vietnam's readiness to attract investment, especially in priority areas such as high technology, research and development, green transformation, digital transformation, circular economy, etc.

Third, we will also discuss and propose orientations to promote the potential, strengths, and central roles of ASEAN and Vietnam in promoting growth, strengthening trade, investment, supply chain, and global value, helping to restore the economy, and enhancing the resilience of the global economy.

Great opportunity for Vietnam to demonstrate its commitment to concrete solutions

That is the view of Mr. Thomas Gass - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation about this working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. "Vietnamese leaders can confidently speak at the WEF Davos 2024 Conference this time because Vietnam has made significant contributions to solving many global issues and deserves to be recognized by the international community for those efforts" - Mr. Thomas Gass shared.

According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation, Vietnam's role is increasingly important, not only in the region but also beyond. In this context, with the goal of becoming a high-income and low-carbon country within 20 years, it is even more important for Vietnam to be ready to maintain dialogue and share with the international community its approaches, perspectives and experiences in global integration and socio-economic development.

The 54th WEF Davos Conference takes place from January 15 to 19, 2024 with the theme "Rebuilding Trust". This is the largest WEF Davos Conference since the COVID-19 pandemic and has the participation of the largest number of leaders of countries and international organizations ever. With the participation of nearly 100 senior leaders of countries and international organizations, about 3,000 leaders of global corporations and businesses, this year's Conference is truly a world-class event to share ideas, have attractive and multi-dimensional discussions on world economic prospects, new trends and global development visions; promote and connect economic, trade, investment cooperation and in all fields between countries and with businesses; At the same time, mobilize global strength, especially public-private cooperation, to create new growth drivers and address common challenges in the current context of difficulties, risks, and uncertainties.

Within the framework of the Conference, the Policy Dialogue Session “Vietnam: Global Vision Orientation” on the afternoon of January 16 (local time) with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh was proposed by WEF and identified as a highlight session at WEF Davos 2024. The dialogue session took place at a key time, helping to promote relations with partners and convey a strong message about a dynamic and innovative Vietnam, an attractive investment destination, a responsible member and a role model in many aspects and fields of the international community.

Attending the Dialogue session, Professor Klaus Schwab - Founder and Chairman of WEF - expressed his pleasure to welcome Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the WEF Davos Conference for the first time; assessed that Vietnam is not only a star in the East Asia region, but is also in the process of becoming a country with economic influence at the world level. Professor Schwab highly appreciated and believed in the increasing role of Vietnam; believed that Vietnam has truly become one of the pioneering countries in developing a green and smart economy.

Speaking at the Dialogue, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized a number of orientations and consistent viewpoints of Vietnam in the process of building and developing the country. The Prime Minister also emphasized a number of priority areas of Vietnam in the coming time, including digital transformation, science and technology, artificial intelligence, green transformation, etc. and determined that this is both an objective requirement and trend, and a strategic choice.

In cooperation with enterprises, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the Vietnamese Government will continue to improve and develop three strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure, and human resources; create the most favorable conditions for foreign enterprises to cooperate in business, on the basis of maximizing the trust, hope, and determination of both sides and wishing that enterprises link production and consumption with research and training.

The messages of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received high appreciation from the delegates attending the Dialogue. The Dialogue was organized in an open format, directly interacting with a world-leading international commentator and transmitted on many online media platforms, thereby helping to strongly and widely spread the message about a Vietnam with new foundation, potential, position and prestige.
