The conference informed about the Ministry of Public Security's Project to assign provincial and municipal police to take over local drug rehabilitation facilities. There are currently 97 drug rehabilitation and rehabilitation facilities nationwide in 60 provinces and cities.
The goal of the project is to promote the combined strength of the political system and the entire population, in which the People's Public Security is the core force, taking the lead in drug prevention, control and combat, gradually restraining, stopping and repelling drug crimes and evils.
At the same time, improve the effectiveness of drug addiction treatment and post-treatment management, reduce the number of new drug addicts; strictly manage drug addicts in society, prevent complicated situations from arising, and contribute to building a safe and healthy social environment.
Through discussions with relevant provinces, cities, ministries and branches, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs have agreed and signed to receive and hand over the task from March 1, 2025. In Tuyen Quang province, there is currently 1 drug rehabilitation facility, located in An Khang commune (Tuyen Quang city) with nearly 150 students. Tuyen Quang Provincial Police have been actively coordinating and preparing the necessary conditions to receive the task of State management of this drug rehabilitation facility from the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs from March 1.
Concluding the conference, Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang requested local police to organize the reception and management of drug rehabilitation facilities in their areas according to the roadmap; deploy tasks and personnel according to the project of the Ministry of Public Security.
Localities with drug rehabilitation facilities continue to support state management of drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation work to ensure maximum effectiveness, contributing to ensuring security and order in the area.
