The Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union recently coordinated with the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to organize the 2023 Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Program to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Union and welcome the 8th National Congress of the Vietnam Farmers' Union for the 2023-2028 term. The program honored 100 outstanding Vietnamese farmers in 2023 and recognized 63 outstanding cooperatives nationwide.

Agriculture deserves to be a pillar of the economy.
Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and representatives of central departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations, farmers' associations of provinces and cities, experts and scientists attended the program.
Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers’ Association Luong Quoc Doan said: “Honoring outstanding Vietnamese farmers and praising typical cooperatives nationwide aims to continue promoting the achieved results, actively expanding production, attracting more and more farmer members, households, individuals and organizations to participate in cooperative economy; at the same time, continuing to create a spreading force, leading the patriotic emulation movement in agriculture and rural areas. Contributing to affirming agriculture as a solid “pillar” of the economy”.
Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man said: Our country has about 60 million people living in rural areas, accounting for two-thirds of the country's population; of which there are nearly 19 million agricultural workers, accounting for nearly 50% of the total labor force with more than 10 million members of the Farmers' Association. Therefore, developing agriculture and rural areas, improving the material and spiritual life of farmers is a regular political task of our Party and State. The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress affirmed the construction of "Ecological agriculture, modern countryside, civilized farmers" with the spirit of building a comprehensively developed agriculture in a modern and sustainable direction; large-scale commodity production, with high productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness; building new rural areas with modern socio-economic infrastructure, reasonable economic structure and organizational forms; stable rural society, rich in national cultural identity; People's knowledge is improved, ecological environment is protected.
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly hopes that the outstanding farmers and typical cooperatives honored will continue to contribute their strength and intelligence, helping many others so that more farmers can become rich legitimately, and more cooperatives can succeed and develop to join hands with the community to achieve the goal of sustainable poverty reduction and new rural construction.
Innovation is the development trend
Ms. Bui Thi Thom, Vice President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 2023 Vietnamese Farmers' Pride Program, said: Following the success of the previous 10 times, in 2023, 100 outstanding farmers from 63 provinces and cities across the country representing the fields of production, business, processing, new rural construction, inventions, and national security protection were selected and honored.
Of these, 83 are male and 17 are female. The person with the biggest profit is Mr. Le Van Sam in Ben Tre with a shrimp farming model, an area of 30 hectares applying high technology, earning a profit of 50 billion VND/year. The outstanding farmer with the biggest chain of links is Mr. Nguyen Viet Vi in Binh Phuoc. The service cooperative with him as Chairman of the Board of Directors has 22 members, cultivating an area of 100 hectares of red-fleshed jackfruit, Hoang Kim star apple, producing seedlings and agricultural materials.

The outstanding farmer who creates jobs for the most workers is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Huan in Can Tho with a model of growing rice seeds and high-quality rice. Khiet Tam Agricultural Cooperative, of which he is Chairman of the Board of Directors, has created stable jobs for 120 workers, with an income of 6.5 to 8 million VND/month. The outstanding farmer with the largest durian growing area is Mr. Nguyen Thai Son in Lam Dong, with 40 hectares of organic durian growing...
They come from all fields, especially farmers who do ecotourism, develop circular agricultural economic models, and digital transformation in production and business. Many useful inventions and innovations help increase productivity and labor efficiency for farmers, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to protecting the ecological environment.
