The program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen" comes to fishermen in Ninh Thuan

On June 14, Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province to organize the program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen" in Ninh Thuan. Attending were comrades: Truong Hoa Binh, former member of the Politburo, former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister of the Government, Honorary Chairman of the Program; Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department.

On our side, there were comrades: Pham Van Hau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Van Binh, member of the Standing Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Le Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of relevant departments, branches and localities and 200 fishermen of the province.

With the aim of raising awareness of the law in the process of participating in fishing and exploiting aquatic products, contributing to the implementation of the Prime Minister's Action Plan on removing the IUU yellow card for Vietnamese seafood; at the same time, encouraging and motivating fishermen to stay at sea and preserve the sovereignty of the sea and islands, in April 2023, Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper launched the program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen"; expected to take place in 28 coastal provinces and cities and last until the end of 2025.

At the program, the Organizing Committee presented 200 gift sets (including: Battery + LED light + a life buoy + medicine bag with necessary medicines, along with the handbook "Things to know about fishing" edited by Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper) to local fishermen and 40 scholarships (each worth 3 million VND), along with many exercise books and nutritious food for children of fishermen in difficult circumstances who are good at studying. Previously, the Organizing Committee of the Program coordinated with Ngoc Minh General Clinic in Ho Chi Minh City to organize free medical examinations and medicine distribution for 1,000 people in two communes of Ca Na and Phuoc Diem (Thuan Nam).

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Pham Van Hau, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council affirmed that this is a Program with profound social significance. In addition to supporting practical gifts for fishermen, granting scholarships to children of fishermen in difficult circumstances; The Program also commends and replicates models and positive factors who know how to get rich from the sea, have beautiful actions to protect the sea in the context that the Government, central ministries, and localities, including Ninh Thuan and many fishermen are making efforts to implement urgent solutions to remove the IUU yellow card for the Vietnamese seafood industry. From there, it creates inspiration and encouragement for the determination of Ninh Thuan fishermen to "Go offshore, understand the law, stick to the sea in peace", firmly protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland.

The comrade respectfully sends to comrade Truong Hoa Binh as well as Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper the most sincere and profound thanks for their attention and support for the province; hoping that, in the coming time, Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper will continue to accompany the province, maintain, expand and organize more activities to care for and support in all aspects for fishermen in particular and Ninh Thuan people in general, through the program "Lighting up the lights at sea with fishermen" and other meaningful programs launched and organized by the newspaper. Believing that, with the profound meaning of the program, each fisherman participating in catching seafood at sea is a soldier, each ship going out to sea is a "sovereignty landmark" at sea, contributing with the army and people of the whole country to firmly protect the sovereignty, sovereign rights and national jurisdiction at sea.
