Focus on investing, nurturing, developing high-quality human resources in science and technology

On the afternoon of March 11, in Hanoi, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department visited and worked with the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST).

VAST's report said that in terms of science and technology activities, training and development of high-quality science and technology human resources, VAST is the leading unit in the country, holding a leading position in the national science and technology system. From 2016 to present, VAST has achieved many results in scientific research, training and technology application, making positive contributions to the cause of industrialization, modernization and socio-economic development of the country.

In the field of basic research, the number of published works of VAST has increased steadily every year at a high rate, over 10%/year; to date, it has achieved over 2,000 publications/year, of which many published works have been published in prestigious international journals with high impact factors. Along with that, VAST has signed cooperation agreements with more than 40 ministries, branches, localities and enterprises to apply many research results, develop high technology in the fields of life and security, national defense...

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the achievements in nearly 50 years of establishment and development of VAST with its position as a leading bird in research work, especially basic research, transfer, and training of human resources in science and technology to serve the cause of national construction, development and defense.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that science and technology and the fourth industrial revolution are developing strongly, creating new opportunities and challenges for all countries and peoples. In the coming time, in addition to inheriting and promoting the achievements, VAST needs to overcome limitations and shortcomings, leaders and scientists need to join hands to realize the development goals of VAST until 2030, with a vision to 2045 according to the Party's resolution and the Government's strategy. VAST thoroughly grasps and effectively implements the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; resolutions, directives and conclusions of the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat on the field of science and technology, innovation, building and promoting the role of intellectuals and scientists to meet the requirements of rapid and sustainable national development in the new period; focusing on research, development and application of science and technology into practice; Continue to pay attention to investing, nurturing, nurturing and developing high-quality human resources in science and technology to meet the requirements of national development and national defense in the new period.
