The Secretary of the Dongguan City Party Committee shared and introduced the city's socio-economic development achievements after more than 40 years of reform and innovation. Dongguan, a district under Guangdong Province, has now become the world's locomotive and factory. Dongguan City's population is currently over 10 million people, with a GRDP of nearly 160 billion USD.
Delighted with the development of Nghe An province, comrade Tieu A Phi assessed that Nghe An is a province with a revolutionary history, the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, a close friend of the Chinese people. Nghe An has good natural conditions, a good ecosystem, and a strong sense of striving among the people.
Vietnam and China have always been comrades and brothers. In recent times, the leaders of the two Parties and States have reached common perceptions, bringing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to a new height, a new position, and sharing a bright future together.
In recent years, the cooperative relationship between Dongguan City and Vietnam has been increasingly developed and achieved many good results. In 2023, the total import and export turnover between Dongguan and Vietnam reached 56 billion USD, many Dongguan enterprises are investing in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Secretary of the Dongguan City Party Committee Xiao Yafei suggested that in the coming time, the two localities need to strengthen trade and industrial production cooperation. Currently, Dongguan has more than 21,000 enterprises, a strong industrial base, is a large consumer market, and has an important influence on the international market.
In addition, the two localities need to promote people-to-people, cultural and association exchanges. Both localities have a long history of development, rich cultural traditions and vibrant sports movements.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung expressed his joy and excitement to visit and work in Dongguan city, a developed city with both modern features and traditional values; at the same time, thanked the leaders of Dongguan city for the warm welcome given to the delegation.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated and congratulated the great achievements that Dongguan city has achieved after more than 40 years of reform and innovation, worthy of the brand as the locomotive and factory of China, as well as of the world. Dongguan is also the center of high-tech manufacturing of China and has established its position in the world.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province emphasized that the visit of the high-ranking delegation of Nghe An province took place in the context of the Vietnam - China relationship having good developments with many important and great achievements that General Secretary and President Xi Jinping and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong have established and directed to implement.
Besides, the good relationship between the two Parties, two States and people of the two countries has a long history, with many similarities in the spirit of being both comrades and brothers, sharing the future of development.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung introduced the general socio-economic situation of Nghe An province to the leaders of Dong Quan city. Nghe An is making progress to achieve the set development goals, but it is still modest compared to the development of Dong Quan city.
Nghe An currently has an economic scale ranked 10th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, with a fairly high economic growth rate for many years, reaching 7.14% in 2023 and 6.38% in the first quarter of 2024. One of the important goals of the province at present is to focus on attracting investment resources, aiming to create a rapid and sustainable economic shift and development of Nghe An.
Initially, Nghe An province has achieved positive results, especially in terms of FDI capital. In 2022, Nghe An attracted nearly 1 billion USD; in 2023, it reached more than 1.6 billion USD. In FDI capital, Chinese investors play an important role.
To date, the province has 137 valid FDI projects from 14 countries, with a total investment capital of over 4.2 billion USD. Of these, there are 44 projects from Chinese investors with a total registered investment capital of over 2.331 billion USD. Chinese FDI projects in Nghe An mainly focus on the fields of manufacturing electronic components, auto parts, solar energy equipment, optical lenses, footwear, garments, etc.
Chinese FDI investment projects in the province in recent times have gradually changed the scale of industrial production, contributing to the shift in industrial structure and promoting the socio-economic development of Nghe An province.
Providing basic information on the delegation's working program in China, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the three main objectives of the working trip: Opening up opportunities and expanding cooperation between Nghe An and Chinese localities and partners; learning about development experiences, especially attracting investment from Chinese localities, including Dongguan city; through the working trip, enterprises investing in industrial park infrastructure in Nghe An province have the opportunity to connect investments with enterprises in Chinese localities.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung believes that the development experiences of Dongguan city will be valuable and meaningful lessons for Nghe An province, especially the experience in developing new models: digital economy, green economy, circular economy, smart and modern urban areas like Dongguan city.
The head of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee agreed with the opinion of the Secretary of Dong Quan City Party Committee and emphasized that enhancing trade and promoting investment and trade cooperation is a necessary and meaningful task for both localities, because the potential and space for Nghe An to become a partner of Dong Quan is still very large.
In addition, Nghe An province agreed to enhance cultural exchange, people-to-people exchange, and sports exchange to promote the potential, strengths, and values of the two localities; hoped that Dong Quan city leaders would create conditions, introduce, and connect investors operating in the city to seek investment opportunities in Nghe An province; and respectfully invite city leaders and Dong Quan enterprises to visit and work in Nghe An province.
