On the evening of September 14, in Van Don district, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, together with leaders of relevant departments, branches and the State Bank of Vietnam, Quang Ninh Branch, met, encouraged, listened to opinions and recommendations of aquaculture and forest farming establishments and households affected by storm No. 3 in Van Don district.

Storm No. 3 (Yagi) caused severe damage to aquaculture and forestation facilities and households in Van Don district. Of which, the total output of aquatic products in the district at harvest time was about 32,112 tons (25,638 tons of oysters, 636 tons of fish, 5,840 tons of other seafood); in addition, it also caused damage to 2,000 hectares of oysters and 3,500 cages for newly stocked fish. The total estimated damage to aquaculture is over 2,200 billion VND.
As for planted forests, the total damaged area is estimated at over 11,000 hectares, of which the planted forest area belongs to the people is over 5,000 hectares, the rest belongs to Van Don Forestry One Member Co., Ltd.

From the damage caused by storm No. 3, aquaculture and forestry establishments and households in Van Don district requested the province to soon issue appropriate support mechanisms and policies, so that people have more motivation to reproduce as soon as possible; request commercial banks, social policy banks... to defer debts, postpone, and extend interest collection for people and create conditions for new loans at the lowest interest rates; request Van Don district to create conditions to support the allocation of water surface area, sea surface area, farming area...
The residents affirmed that Van Don people live for the forest and the sea. If they are given the best conditions in terms of mechanisms, policies, credit, etc., what storm No. 3 took away will be returned to the people 2 or 3 times more.

Comrade Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, sympathized and shared the losses of the people of Van Don district in storm No. 3. From the thoughts and aspirations of the people, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the people of Van Don have the courage, resilience, do not give up in the face of difficulties and challenges, always have the ambition and will to rise up in life, get rich from the forest and the sea.
He said that the opinions and recommendations of Van Don people are completely valid, the province will soon study and issue mechanisms and policies to support people and businesses affected by storm No. 3. Localities need to promptly review and assess the extent of damage to aquaculture and forest plantation facilities and households, ensuring objectivity, honesty, openness and transparency so that when the policy is issued, it will be promptly implemented to support.

The province will also coordinate with the State Bank of Vietnam, Quang Ninh Branch, to submit recommendations to relevant ministries, branches, and the Government to soon have mechanisms and policies to support and defer debt, postpone, and extend tax and bank interest payments for aquaculture and forest plantation establishments and households damaged by storm No. 3.
