Lao National Assembly Chairman visits Vinachem's large fertilizer production enterprise

On December 21, Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, member of the Politburo of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, visited Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company of Vinachem.

During the visit and working session, the delegation of the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the leaders of the Vietnam Chemical Group (Vinachem) and Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company discussed investment cooperation opportunities in the fields of fertilizer and agriculture. The Group introduced technical advances and fertilizer production technology, and shared experiences in effective agricultural cultivation, suitable for local conditions in Laos.

According to Vinachem Group, the event of comrade Xaysomphone Phomvihane visiting Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company - a typical unit of Vinachem - has shown the deep interest of Lao leaders in the agricultural sector and also opened up new cooperation opportunities for the relationship between the two countries.

VINACHEM is the leading state-owned corporation in Vietnam in the field of fertilizer, chemical and industrial products production. During this working visit, Chairman of the Board of Members of Vinachem Group, Mr. Phung Quang Hiep, together with the leaders of the Group and leaders of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, took the Lao National Assembly delegation to visit the fertilizer factory in Binh Dien, discussing investment cooperation opportunities in the fields of fertilizer and agriculture. The Group introduced technical advances and fertilizer production technology, and shared experiences in effective agricultural cultivation, suitable for local conditions in Laos.

Since 2023, Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company has established a cooperative relationship with Phongsavanh Group of Laos, marking an important step in exporting Dau Trau brand NPK fertilizer to the Lao market. This cooperation not only brings quality fertilizer products but also helps improve agricultural production capacity for Lao farmers through advanced farming models.

To expand this cooperation, on August 30, 2024, in the capital city of Vientiane, Laos, PHAIBOUN TRAIDING IM&EX Co. Ltd. and Binh Dien Quang Tri Joint Stock Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding on research and transfer of scientific and technical advances to Lao farmers. The goal is not only to provide high-quality NPK fertilizer products, but also to transfer advanced agricultural production processes that have been successfully applied in Vietnam.

Mr. Ngo Van Dong - General Director of Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company affirmed that the transfer of scientific and technological advances is the foundation of cooperation. Binh Dien Company has sent leading experts to Laos to study land, soil and crop conditions, deploying Dau Trau fertilizer products to important crop growing areas of Laos, such as Champasak, Salavan and Savanakhet provinces, thereby developing fertilizer products suitable for each land area and each crop type.

Binh Dien Quang Tri Joint Stock Company has coordinated with PHAIBOUN TRAIDING IM&EX Co. Ltd. to organize 25 demonstration sites in Savanakhet, Champasak and Salavan provinces on key crops such as rice, coffee, corn, etc. with a total area of ​​nearly 15 hectares. The results showed that rice and coffee yields in the models were 50-70% higher than the traditional farming style of Lao farmers, which was highly appreciated by farmers and specialized departments of Laos. The implementation of demonstration models has initially built soil nutrient maps as well as highly effective cultivation processes for key crops. These activities not only help Lao farmers improve the quality and yield of their crops but also contribute to the sustainable development of Lao agriculture.

The cooperation between Binh Dien Company and Phongsavanh Group is not only a business strategy but also a long-term companionship with farmers, aiming to create bumper crops and sustainable development. With a long-term vision, both parties are committed to continue investing in research and development of products suitable for Laos' soil conditions.

The visit of the Lao National Assembly Chairman not only affirms the close relationship between the two countries but also opens up many opportunities for long-term cooperation, especially in promoting sustainable agricultural development in the region. With the total export turnover of Dau Trau fertilizer to Laos reaching 2,000 tons in 2024, with a revenue of nearly 1 million USD, VINACHEM believes that this cooperation will develop even more strongly in the future.

This event is not only an important milestone in the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and Laos but also a solid step forward in the sustainable development of the agricultural sector and enhancing the value of VINACHEM's fertilizer products in the international market.
