President Vo Van Thuong receives Chairman of the United Russia Party

Welcoming Chairman of the United Russia Party, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev and the high-ranking delegation of the Russian Federation to visit Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong assessed the significance of this visit as an opportunity for the two sides to discuss orientations in Vietnam-Russia cooperation in general, including cooperation between the two Parties and two States.

Expressing his pleasure to visit Vietnam again, Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev affirmed that the Russian Federation highly values ​​the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Vietnam; high-ranking leaders of the Russian Federation, including the United Russia Party, are interested in developing relations with Vietnam as one of the top priorities and Vietnam is an important partner of Russia in the region.

President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification; always remembers the support and assistance that the people of the former Soviet Union gave Vietnam in the cause of national construction and defense; attaches importance to the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and wishes to continue developing the traditional friendship and Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia for the development interests of the two countries and for the prosperity of the two peoples.

In a friendly atmosphere, President Vo Van Thuong and Chairman of the United Russia Party Dmitry Medvedev welcomed the main results of cooperation in recent times, especially in the fields of economy-trade, science, education-training, and local cooperation.

On this occasion, President Vo Van Thuong thanked Russia for continuing to provide annual scholarships for Vietnamese students to study at Russian educational institutions; he believed that the 4th meeting of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee on Education, Science and Technology scheduled to be held later this year will continue to open up many new cooperation opportunities in this field.

The two leaders agreed to continue promoting people-to-people exchanges, including among the younger generation, in the coming time; and promote the role of friendship associations between the two countries, in order to enhance understanding, as well as preserve the good values ​​of the traditional friendship with a history of nearly 75 years.

At the reception, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his gratitude and asked the Russian leadership, government and the United Russia Party to continue to pay attention and create conditions for the Vietnamese community in Russia to live, work and study long-term and stably.

On this occasion, President Vo Van Thuong also sent greetings and regards to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
