Continuing the State visit to Laos, on the morning of July 12, President To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and met with the Vietnamese community and Vietnamese businesses living and working in Laos.

Report to the President and delegation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung said that there are currently about 100,000 Vietnamese expatriates living, working and studying in Laos, of which nearly 40,000 live and work in the capital Vientiane. Over the past time, the Embassy has always paid attention to supporting the Vietnamese community in Laos, helping overseas Vietnamese feel secure in doing business and living, contributing to the socio-economic development of Laos.
Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung emphasized that the visit of the President and the delegation helped to further strengthen the close relationship between the two countries, while demonstrating the Party and State's concern for the Vietnamese community in Laos, encouraging them to continue to integrate well and contribute to the economic, cultural and social life of the host country, and to carry out many activities towards their homeland and country.
On behalf of the community, Mr. Pham Van Hung, Chairman of the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos, respectfully thanked the Party and State leaders for always having special affection for the Vietnamese community abroad in general and in Laos in particular. Many legal policies related to investment, business, etc. in the country have been adjusted to be more and more favorable for Vietnamese people abroad, while many activities to support people to integrate well into the local society, preserve cultural traditions, Vietnamese language and turn to their homeland have also been strongly implemented.

President To Lam warmly visited the people, affirming that the Party and State always care about our overseas Vietnamese, an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc, including the Vietnamese community in Laos; wishing that the people always unite, support each other in doing business, living, complying with local laws, and at the same time being a bridge to foster the special relationship. The President welcomed and highly appreciated the patriotism and important contributions of overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese business community in Laos to the cause of national construction and defense, as well as to the relationship between the two countries. On this occasion, the President presented the General Association of Vietnamese in Laos with 10,000 USD to help improve facilities and organize community activities.
The President said that during visits and meetings with foreign leaders, Party and State leaders always requested that the host country provide support to our overseas Vietnamese in terms of nationality, household registration, legal status, ensuring security and safety, and supporting them in doing business, studying, living, and increasingly enhancing their prestige and position in the host society.
The President also asked Vietnamese representative agencies in Laos to continue to do a good job in their work with overseas Vietnamese, especially in caring for and supporting their integration and organizing activities to strengthen community solidarity, as well as strengthen the connection between overseas Vietnamese and the country.
This is also the last activity of President To Lam during his visit to Laos. On the afternoon of July 12, the President and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation will arrive in Phnom Penh, starting a State visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
