The 15th annual White Paper presents many important recommendations from European businesses.

On the morning of January 16, the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) released its 15th annual White Book. The White Book is a collaborative summary that provides recommendations to promote investment and trade priorities to boost Vietnam's growth.

EuroCham Chairman Gabor Fluit said: “Despite the complex global economy, the Vietnamese economy has shown resilience and flexibility. An important sign of this is the increase in European investment in Vietnam. Nestlé Vietnam has just announced an additional investment of 100 million USD. This underlines Europe’s confidence in Vietnam,” said Mr. Gabor Fluit.

However, according to Mr. Gabor Fluit, 2024 will have its own difficulties, the economic environment will not be as favorable as before 2020. Vietnam needs to pay attention to risks such as slowing import and export, the complexity of the supply chain and unforeseen difficulties. When Vietnam faces current challenges and opportunities, adaptive policies will be the key factor.

Mr. Hans Kerstens, Vice Chairman of the Transport and Logistics Subcommittee, Eurocham, commented that Vietnam should focus on improving transport infrastructure to reduce logistics costs and improve Vietnam's logistics performance index. In addition, there should be a set of guiding documents related to customs procedures, tariff incentives, clarifying HS code classification regulations and continuing to implement on-site import and export procedures.

Michel Cassagnes, Chairman of the Construction Subcommittee, Eurocham, also recommended that the equipment certification process be simplified to avoid project delays. Recognition of both international and local equivalent standards could allow for faster approvals while ensuring safety.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Tourism , Restaurants and Hotels Subcommittee, Mr. Mario Mendis, supports Vietnam in expanding its visa exemption policy to all countries in the European Union.
