For Do Minh Duc (from Hai Phong), "backpacking" is not just a simple vacation or relaxation, but an opportunity to enrich knowledge and useful skills.
Go to grow up
Duc joined the travel enthusiast community 3 years ago when he met a boss who loved motorbikes. His companion was a Honda CM125.
For Minh Duc (left), gaining more life experience after each "backpacking" trip is the greatest happiness.
The image of "bikers" - people who are passionate about driving, especially large-displacement motorbikes - inspired him. Duc understood that although pursuing the spirit of adventure and freedom, bikers must have social responsibility, principles and discipline. To develop their passion in a healthy way, he and his friends always remind each other to stay alert and careful when driving.
The compact and mobile nature of motorbikes helps young people who love to travel easily get into every corner to explore the land they visit. Duc likes to chat with local people to deeply feel the culture and lifestyle of the destination. According to him, they are great tour guides, helping him know every turn, famous culinary spots as well as scenic spots. Duc is fond of the saying: "Four wheels move your body, but two wheels move your soul" - four-wheeled vehicles carry our bodies here and there, but two-wheeled vehicles carry our souls.
Motorbike trips create opportunities for young people to increase social connections
A memorable memory for Duc was the trip to Mui Yen (more than 50 km from the center of Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province) this summer. The road was full of gravel and red soil, so it was quite difficult for him to move. There was a time when his car broke down and his phone lost signal. Luckily, Duc was helped by a local. What made him most satisfied about the trip was being able to immerse himself in the beautiful, pristine nature there. "Facing challenges helped me gain more skills to handle unexpected situations. When going on a backpacking trip, you must first be well prepared in all aspects, and not be subjective" - Duc concluded.
Emotional enrichment
In addition to practicing time and money management skills as well as better planning, backpacking trips with close friends are precious gifts in the youth of Nguyen Thy Thien Thao (student of Saigon University).
Thao loves the feeling every time the group leaves the city, leaving behind the hurried pace of the city. Thao believes that there are many interesting things waiting for her ahead, something that is difficult to meet in any pre-designed tour. Everyone tries to keep a suitable speed, never speeding or overtaking recklessly, enjoying the scenery stretching out before their eyes and the joy of traveling together. The group feels closer when conquering the roads together, sharing the joys and sorrows. Although she admits that she is not a true "backpacker", short trips on a familiar two-wheeled vehicle with friends have helped Thao gain more confidence to set goals for longer trips in the future. "Putting aside daily pressures, young people are more open-minded, listen and understand each other" - Thao confided. The more they travel, the more Thao and her friends love their homeland and country and desire to contribute their youth to the community.
Traveling is also a way for young people to relieve stress and connect more with the community through the colorful reality that they observe and reflect on. Abundant energy, a desire to learn and an understanding of technology are the advantages of Gen Z. And they have made good use of those advantages to create journeys that are deeply personal.
Prepare well
To have a safe motorbike trip, preparation is very important. Regardless of the type of vehicle you choose, you must ensure the quality of the vehicle, regularly maintain the vehicle and equip it with essential repair tools. Luggage should be compact, versatile and have a medical bag with medicine and basic items for first aid. Young people need to bring full identification documents and enough cash to cover expenses instead of just cards or electronic wallets for convenient payment. Devices such as phones, cameras, battery chargers, etc. are also indispensable items for many people. Helmets and road clothes should be invested in as best as possible. The market also has specialized clothes to protect against wind, dust and limit injuries if you fall off the motorbike. Most importantly, the "traveler" needs to have good physical and mental health to make the trip as desired and meaningful as possible.
