Spending nearly 900 million VND to organize a wedding
Recently, a clip discussing the wedding costs of a Gen Z couple went viral on social media with 4.1 million views, 260,000 likes, and nearly 3,000 comments.
The clip owner introduces: "This is the cost table for a girl from Tien Giang, whose husband's hometown is Gia Lai, to marry far away." The "huge" expenses for each item surprised many people.
Gen Z couple causes a stir when sharing wedding cost table
Notable among them are: 75 million VND engagement ring, 30 million VND wedding ring, 130 million VND designer wedding dress, 42 million VND fresh flowers to decorate the ancestral ceremony of the bride's and groom's family, 121 million VND wedding party at the bride's restaurant, 254 million VND wedding party at the groom's family,...
In addition, there are many other small expenses such as: wedding invitations, wedding trays, wedding car decoration, bridal makeup,...
The total cost of the couple's wedding was 893 million VND.
This figure shocked many people. Many people left mixed comments about the lavish wedding, saying that spending nearly 900 million VND on a wedding was wasteful and unnecessary.
“After getting married, the house will probably be sold. A few hours of luxury will be worth a few years of debt”; “Looking at the wedding expenses makes me feel so stressed. This group doesn’t even talk about profit, they probably won’t even break even. Losses are certain”,… some internet users commented.
It's all worth it
According to research, the bride and groom couple in the clip are Gia An (born in 1998, from Gia Lai) and An Vy (born in 1998, from Tien Giang).
Happy couple when the wedding took place completely
Talking to VietNamNet , Gia An confirmed that the above wedding expense list is true. Their wedding was held on April 14 at the bride's house and April 20 at the groom's house, but recently, the couple came up with the idea of making a clip to share about the expenses for the wedding day.
“We made this clip to preserve memories and let everyone know how hard we tried to have the most perfect wedding,” Gia An shared. In the clip, Gia An and his wife did not mention the cost of making the honeymoon room and some other items.
Couples are willing to spend money to have a neat wedding
The groom from Gia Lai confirmed that the couple paid for all the wedding expenses themselves. Both families only supported the honeymoon suite and prepared wedding gifts for the young couple.
“The groom's family's wedding party was initially paid for by my parents, but later, we used wedding gifts to make up for it,” Gia An said.
Gia An affirmed that the couple did not care about “loss - profit” when organizing their wedding day and had anticipated the “loss” beforehand. What the young couple cared about was having a well-organized wedding with memorable memories on the big day.
Every time they remember their wedding day, the couple feels happy.
“Each family and each couple has a different way of thinking when it comes to weddings. Some families emphasize profit and loss, while others just want a simple ceremony, not focusing on formality,...
My husband and I are different. We want everything to be neat and perfect, regardless of profit or loss, as long as the wedding is perfect, and every time we mention it in the future, it is a happy and joyful time, that's all that matters," Gia An confided.
Gia An and An Vy prepared for their wedding in 5 months. The couple carefully researched each item and consulted many sources for prices before making the final decision. Each stage, ceremony,... was meticulously and neatly prepared by the couple.
For young couples, all the effort put into their wedding day is worth it.
“My wife put a lot of effort into the wedding, she did everything carefully and as meticulously as possible. Actually, the wedding was not too extravagant. The cost looked high but every item was reasonable.
Our two houses are 600km apart, so we had to pay for airfare and hotel for some guests. In return, we were supported for some items such as wedding photography, wedding car, etc., so we saved some money," Gia An said.
Nearly 6 months have passed, every time Gia An and his wife recall their happy day, they feel that all the effort they put in was worth it. Everything went as planned, the couple was happy and fulfilled, and the guests felt respected.
Both currently live and work in Ho Chi Minh City. An Vy is in the final months of pregnancy and the couple is eagerly awaiting the day their child is born.
