Red Sunday 2024 is expected to receive about 50,000 units of blood.

The Red Sunday 2024 program is organized by Tien Phong Newspaper in coordination with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of provinces and cities and a number of units nationwide.

The 16th Red Sunday in 2024 will take place from November 2023 to the end of March 2024 in 45 provinces and cities nationwide. In addition, dozens of armed forces units and businesses with the capacity to mobilize a large number of participants have also registered to organize Red Sunday in their units.

Red Sunday 2024 is expected to mobilize more than 100,000 participants and receive about 45,000-50,000 units of blood.

Journalist Le Xuan Son, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper, said that this is the 16th year the Red Sunday program has been organized. It is a journey to turn a small blood donation event into a large blood donation movement like today.

Born out of the urgent need for blood during Tet and when blood donation activities were still very limited, Red Sunday has been persistently organized for 15 consecutive years, achieving two major goals: mobilizing a large amount of blood needed to treat patients and contributing to building an increasingly strong voluntary blood donation movement throughout the country."

Along with the Spring Festival, Red Journey, Red Sunday have become important milestones in the development of the blood donation movement in our country. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said: "January 24, 2024 will mark the 30th anniversary of the launch of voluntary blood donation in our country. It is a process of efforts to change from awareness to action of millions of Vietnamese people. No matter how good the awareness is, no matter how advanced the science is, it cannot replace the source of blood donated by regular blood donors.

Red Sunday has become an indispensable part, accompanying the entire 30-year journey, a humane brand that has the power to gather hundreds of thousands of passionate hearts, to create a warm fire together in the cold winter days, contributing drops of blood to revive life.

This year, in addition to the main activity of voluntary blood donation, the Organizing Committee will visit, encourage and give gifts to patients receiving blood and those in difficult circumstances. Many singers, artists, beauty queens and beauties also attended and donated blood at the program.
