On the afternoon of November 29, the Ministry of Education and Training will hold a press conference to announce the high school graduation exam plan from 2025.

This is the information that teachers and students of high schools across the country are eagerly waiting for. At this time, it is almost the end of November, the Ministry of Education and Training has not yet announced the plan to reform the high school graduation exam from 2025 corresponding to the reform of the 2018 General Education Program. 11th grade students are almost "finished" the first semester but still do not know how their 12th grade graduation will be.

At the meeting of the National Council for Education and Human Resources Development on the morning of November 14, the Ministry of Education and Training presented a draft report on the high school graduation exam plan from 2025. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training said it had proposed 3 exam plans to solicit comments.

However, the Ministry of Education and Training recommends choosing option 1 with Option 2 + 2: Candidates must take compulsory exams in literature, math and 2 subjects they choose from the remaining subjects studied in grade 12 (foreign language, history, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, economic and legal education, information technology, technology).

The reason for choosing the 2 + 2 exam plan, according to the Ministry of Education and Training, is to ensure a number of requirements. In particular, the number one requirement is to reduce exam pressure for students and reduce costs for students' families and society (currently, there are 6 exams); reduce 1 exam session to 3 sessions.

The second reason is not to cause an imbalance between choosing social sciences more than natural sciences as it is now. The Ministry of Education and Training cited that the percentage of candidates choosing social sciences in the last 3 years in the high school graduation exam out of a total of more than 1 million candidates registered for the exam is as follows: 64.72% in 2021; 66.96% in 2022; 67.64% in 2023. This creates conditions for candidates to develop their strengths in accordance with the goals of the 2018 General Education Program.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, by choosing 2 subjects out of 9, there will be 36 different ways to choose, creating conditions for candidates to choose the exam subject that suits their career orientation, abilities, interests, conditions and circumstances to continue studying, learning a trade or participating in working life.
