On April 30, South American time, the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, and coordinated with the Vietnam News Agency to organize a photo exhibition on bilateral relations.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Rander Peña, Vice President of the ruling United Socialist Party (PSUV), President of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) Henry Parra, Ms. Érika Farías Peña, President of the Francisco Miranda Front, and representatives of the Venezuelan government, ministries and sectors.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My emphasized that the great victory in Spring 1975 was a brilliant milestone in the great history of building and defending the country of the Vietnamese people.

Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people have completed the mission of completely liberating the South, unifying the country, bringing Vietnam into a new era, the era of independence, unification, and building a socialist Vietnam.

According to the Ambassador, the victory of April 30, 1975 was the result of the extraordinary efforts of the Vietnamese people, under the guiding light of Ho Chi Minh Thought and the talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam; the sincere solidarity, the selfless and great support and assistance of progressive forces and peace-loving people around the world, including Latin American countries and Venezuela.

At the ceremony, Vice President of the ruling PSUV Rander Peña highlighted the great significance of April 30, emphasizing that this is a victory for justice, progressive forces and peace-loving people around the world, including the people of Venezuela.

Affirming that the great victory on April 30 is closely associated with the name and career of President Ho Chi Minh and the Communist Party of Vietnam, Mr. Peña stated that this historical event has been, is and will continue to be a source of inspiration for peoples around the world fighting for independence, freedom, self-determination, justice and social progress.

Meanwhile, speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Érika Farías Peña, President of the Francisco Miranda Front, emphasized that Vietnam is a living proof of a heroic and resilient nation that has overcome many difficulties to protect its independence, and today, Vietnam continues to be a model in socio-economic development.

Also at the ceremony, President of the Venezuela-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group Saul Ortega shared memories of his youth, when he and Venezuelan progressive forces in the 60s and 70s of the last century took to the streets to support the just struggle of the Vietnamese people.

Mr. Ortega said that until now, his feelings for Vietnam remain intact. He always cares about, follows and is happy with Vietnam's development, especially the achievements of the Renovation cause initiated and led by the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Within the framework of the celebration, Vietnam News Agency and the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela jointly organized the photo exhibition “35 years of traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela” to bring viewers the most authentic and vivid images of the close relationship between the two countries.

At the ceremony, delegates also enjoyed some traditional performances from Vietnam and Venezuela, as well as special dishes of Vietnamese culinary art.
