TPO - The Hunter Moon appeared on October 17 when a giant moon appeared shimmering in the sky of many countries, captivating many people. At this time, the moon was about 357,364 km from Earth - the closest of any full moon of the year - allowing many lovers to admire the biggest and most beautiful supermoon of the year.
This supermoon was called the Hunter's Moon by Native American tribes because it was the time of year when leaves began to fall and hunting season began. It was also known in many places as the Travel Moon or Blood Moon. This year's supermoon is about 30% brighter and nearly 15% larger than the full moon at its farthest point from Earth, according to astronomers. Pictured, the moon rises in the night sky Thursday in Nantong, China. Photo: Getty Images |
