The cost of use is 5 times cheaper than gasoline cars, and the maintenance fee is as cheap as nothing.
Recently, on the Youtube channel WhatcarVN, the sharing of teacher Minh Nghia (Duc Thinh Driving Training Center, Hanoi) and two auto experts Nguyen Manh Thang and Le Tung Anh made many people surprised and excited when they analyzed each type of car maintenance cost and the advantages and different experiences that can only be had when using electric cars.
As someone with over 15 years of experience teaching driving, in the past 2 years, Mr. Nghia's work has "turned a new page" after he replaced traditional gasoline cars with the VF e34 electric car.
“I have carefully researched the structure and operation of the VF e34 before deciding to choose it as a teaching vehicle. Basically, this electric car has many similar devices to gasoline cars when taking the driving test, such as mechanical brakes and an international standard gearbox, which is very suitable for practice,” Mr. Nghia shared.

What makes Mr. Nghia most satisfied when switching to teaching driving with electric cars is the economical operating cost, which means that with the same tuition fee, students using electric cars will have more "driving hours" than practicing on a gasoline car.
According to Mr. Nghia, the fuel cost of a gasoline driving course is usually very expensive. On average, a driving training car runs about 5,000 km per month, equivalent to 6.5 million VND in gasoline. That does not include tire wear, filter replacement, oil repair and other damages. Meanwhile, the cost of charging the VF e34 is only about 1.2 million VND/month.
VF e34 used as driving practice car
“A field trip from Noi Bai airport to Lang Son, the total round trip distance is 320km, and the cost of gas is 500,000 VND, but using an electric car only costs about 100,000 VND for charging, which is 1/5 of the cost of gas,” Mr. Nghia cited.
For driving, theory is only a part, practicing on the road is important for safe operation. Therefore, according to Mr. Nghia, dedicated teachers will always find ways to optimize costs for students, helping students travel more kilometers and learn more hours on the car. According to estimates, with the same tuition fee, the practice time with an electric car will be twice as long as with a gasoline car.
Using electric cars to teach driving also helps Mr. Nghia save significantly on maintenance costs. In the past nearly 2 years, Mr. Nghia's VF e34 has traveled more than 65,000 kilometers but rarely has to go to the service workshop. The veteran driving instructor said that the annual maintenance cost, including changing brake fluid, filters and brake pad maintenance, only costs more than 1.2 million VND. Meanwhile, gasoline cars need to have their oil changed every 3 months and often have to "stay" in the workshop.
“Since using an electric car, I have been very relaxed. I only need to patch and inflate the tires, I never need to go to the garage,” the owner of the VF e34 excitedly shared.
The car interior adds some specialized equipment for driving practice.
In addition, the good thing about using VinFast electric cars, according to Mr. Nghia, is the 10-year warranty policy and battery rental policy, which is very suitable for those who specialize in teaching driving. Agreeing with Mr. Nghia, two auto experts Manh Thang and Tung Anh said that if you need to choose between a gasoline car and an electric car with the same price, an electric car is still the optimal choice because the price will be compensated by extremely low operating costs and a quick payback period.
“With extremely low operating costs, I think we can recover our capital within just 2 years of exploitation,” said Mr. Nghia.
Superior equipment, safe even with "new mats"
Not only optimizing costs and increasing practice time for students, learning to drive with an electric car is also considered by Mr. Nghia to be a safe practice method for even "newbies". According to Mr. Nghia's analysis, VinFast electric cars possess many safety features that help limit dangerous situations that are difficult to handle for new drivers.
The operating cost is cheaper than gasoline cars, which is what Mr. Nghia really appreciates when choosing VF e34 as a driving training car.
Common mistakes when practicing driving a gasoline vehicle such as burning the clutch, forgetting to release the handbrake before shifting gears and stepping on the gas... will never happen on an electric vehicle because if the handbrake is not fully released or the brake pedal is not pressed, the vehicle cannot move, avoiding the risk of collision when the driver is not ready.
"The good thing about electric vehicles is that they need to be started up properly and according to instructions, so it can be said that learning to drive an electric vehicle is absolutely safe," said Mr. Nghia.
In addition, during practice on the road, teachers are also more relaxed thanks to the safety warning system built into the electric vehicle, such as lane departure warning, blind spot warning, or 360 camera system to increase the ability to observe and handle situations.
“Since using the VF e34 to teach driving, I have found it very effective. This is a multi-purpose car that can be used as a family car, taxi business and especially for teaching driving,” Mr. Nghia affirmed.
Interestingly, since teaching driving with the VF e34, this progressive 70-year-old teacher has had nearly 100 students, many of whom have changed their minds about this environmentally friendly vehicle. Many of them have given up their plans to buy gasoline cars and switched to electric cars after completing the course, including the VF e34, VF 5 Plus and VF 8 models.
