In the exciting atmosphere towards the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023), on the afternoon of June 5, at the Editorial Office, the World & Vietnam Journalists Association solemnly held the Congress for the 2023-2025 term.

Attending the Congress were representatives of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the Executive Board of the Trade Union, the Executive Board of the Youth Union, members of the Association and reporters and editors of the World & Vietnam Newspaper.
At the Congress, the political reports and work review of the Branch Secretariat clearly stated that in the past term, under the influence of the Covid-19 pandemic and unfavorable fluctuations in the domestic and foreign socio-economic situation, the Branch overcame difficulties, continued to advise the Newspaper's leaders, and made many contributions to help the unit successfully complete assigned political and professional tasks.
This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that press products (printed newspapers, electronic newspapers in Vietnamese and English, special issues, specialized pages, special publications...) are constantly being improved and enhanced in professional quality, attracting more readers, increasingly affirming the prestige and position as the leading foreign newspaper in the press industry.
In particular, the Vietnamese e-newspaper has made a breakthrough in all aspects, especially in the number of readers and ranking position, contributing to a significant improvement in revenue from online advertising sources.
Thanks to the initiative and creativity in opening up many new methods and products, the press economic activities have been promoted, ensuring revenue and offsetting regular expenses of the Editorial Board, contributing to the continuous improvement of the unit's career activities step by step, moving towards complete financial autonomy.
The team of journalists has been strengthened and developed with many young writers who are creative and comply with the regulations of press management agencies and the Vietnam Journalists Association, as well as the Party's policies and State laws.
That achievement is demonstrated through specific awards for units and individuals: 02 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister; many individuals received Certificates of Merit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs for outstanding achievements in implementing propaganda work; 01 individual received a Certificate of Merit from the General Department of Politics, Ministry of National Defense, the unit received a Certificate of Merit from the Central Propaganda Department...
The newspaper's products won Third Prize and Encouragement Prize of the National Award for Foreign Information in each year; Encouragement Prize of the Press Award for the cause of national unity... Won prizes at the booth competitions of the annual Spring Newspaper Festival...
The reports also emphasized that the focus of the Association's activities in the coming term is to continuously advise and participate in leadership, contributing to the comprehensive development of the Newspaper, further improving the professional quality of the team of reporters and editors, the quality of content and form of press products, enhancing prestige and position among readers and the press; building a strong Association, a spiritual support, a place to train the moral character of members - journalists, a place to protect the legitimate rights of members.
The enthusiastic comments at the Congress expressed high agreement with the reports of the Association, expressed the wish that the Association continue to promote its role in the next term, recommended that the superior Journalists Association and competent authorities continue to support the Association's activities such as training, development, ensuring all-round benefits for members and expressed the desire to actively participate in activities and enhance the role of the Association.
In his speech at the Congress, Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son highly appreciated the role of the Journalists Association, with the support of the Vietnam Journalists Association, in helping to cultivate and improve professional skills, political and ideological education of editors, reporters, officers and employees of the Newspaper. Thereby, making practical contributions to the development of the strong unit in recent times.
The Editor-in-Chief believes that, on the basis of perfecting the World & Vietnam Chapter at this Congress, the Chapter needs to develop a specific action program, closely linked with the Vietnam Journalists Association, with friendly press chapters, continue to protect the rights and legitimate interests of journalists, strengthen training and improve the professional skills of reporters... in the coming time.
In particular, Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Truong Son hopes that the Association will continue to propose to the Vietnam Journalists Association to admit 100% of qualified journalists into the Association; and organize regular association activities with practical content.
At the Congress, delegates elected the Secretariat for the 2023-2025 term, consisting of three comrades, and assigned the new Secretariat to develop a specific program and plan to organize, implement, inspect, and urge the implementation of the Resolution set forth by the Branch Congress.
